Color separated the piping systems.  Almost ready for an install. Engine installed and prop fabricated...props are another thread for the future.  If this thread is helpful I shall continue.

A coat of primer and things start looking good. The exhaust manifold appears. Some color and TLC .

I shall attempt to present a sequence to a radial engine build.
The cylinders, in this case a PVC fitting.  At $1.50 each or so a nine cylinder engine gets pricy. Find suitable material for a crankcase and lay the cylinders placement out. Arrange the cylinders as exact as possible. Balsa valve covers and Al tubing push rods. Flex straw intake manifolds.

My third model was one of a Ford Trimotor.  Here the production line approach was helpful in fabricating 3 radial engines. If you all do not mind I will continue posting engine photos when I have extra time.  Ta ta!

Whether the engine has 5, 9, or twelve cylinders, I have learned to start by making a prototype cylinder.  Once that is decided upon you start a production line to fabricate the required parts.  Clear reference diagrams and photos are the  key to abstract engine construction.  I use the term abstract because I have no desire to replicate the engines exactly.  I wish to represent their mechanical complexity without machining exact miniature engine duplicates.

I have really grown found of WW1 aircraft so I guess most of my future wok will involve rotary and inline engine construction.  The design and fabrication of abstracts of power plants of this type does get easier the more you attempt it.

I really prefer making radial of rotary engines.  Though I have tried my hand at inline and V variants.

My first engines were quite heavy and contained a lot of metal parts.  At first I adapted hardware store items to fabricate engine parts.  Over the years I have "lighted up" a great deal and hand make most parts.
