I ran across this video on Youtube of a guy who build a small boat out of a single 2x4 and a piece of ply for a seat. He had to do laminations, and precise shaping of parts using in-situ templates. No wastage is permitted because if one part is ruined, you would have to start over again. The overall look was a bit upset when he used black plastic instead of clear to do the covering. It reminded me of how some people take a 3" x 36" piece of balsa and turn it into a work of art.
