Here is a close up of the gear box and parts used in it's construction, Top view drawings almost complete, enough to start making the formers for the fuselage now.

Cheers, Ray K.

The gear box is made out of a variety of material, box is made from 1/16" balsa and sheeted with 1/32" ply.
Beveled gears are custom ordered, the rest is just brass eyelets, brass washers, nylon washers, styrene tubing and 3/32" DIA aluminum tubing. Takes me an hour to 2 hours to make one.  Smiley will post a close up of gear box and parts that are used tomorrow.

Cheers, Ray K.

What and how do you make your boxes for the gears?  This looks very interesting.

Ray...just was on HPA and see that it was heart not heat! My bad.  As the others have said, trust you'll be feeling better.  Thinking of you!

Thanks Tom, I am on the mend,  Wink many life style changes but that's life, this will be a simplified build, not much detail but should look decent, should take no more that 2 to 3 weeks to complete, new gear box and most mechanical parts have already been built.

Cheers, Ray K.

Ray...
Glad to hear you're alright!  I'm suffering with some heat  distress myself.  It's 101F here in So. West Washington State.  No air conditioning and the oscillating fan just blows hot air!!!!
Stay cool and post when you can.  I look forward to another great heli build!

Hello all,

I have been recovering from a heat attack I had on July 3rd so I have not been doing any building, I have completed enough of my redesign of the Bell 30 to start construction, looks like I will be starting this on the weekend, will post progress and photos soon.

Cheers, Ray K.
