Great idea. I'm always looking for new ways to do scale-looking details. It improves the model so much!

I recently used card stock (#65) to cover portions of the fuselage to simulate aluminum panels. For the fasteners, which normally are spaced 3" to 4", I used a pair of deviders and poked holes from the back side of the card stock. The card stock is also a silver color. After the panels have been glued in place I gave them a couple of Coates of Model Masters Aluminum acrylic paint. The paint fills the holes and gives them the appearance of fasteners.
