Of all the dime scale a/c that ive built (2) were easy builds and flew the best almost off the board.

1. Comet Vultee Attack.
2. Comet NA BT-9 Trainer.

Brad, remember the rules are there only if you plan to compete.

I will love to see your Aeronca L build.

Bob:

I love that Aeronca L.

I'm definitely NOT building the Hot Stuff racer for this cook up, but I will build something within the rules.  I just don't know what yet.

It's much easier to ride the horse in the direction its going.

Gentlemen...to assist on reading the thread for the Cookup there's a small white arrow just to the left of the thread's title.  If you click and hold on the white arrow it will invert the thread so when you click on the thread the last page will be shown first and you don't have to read or click through all the pages from the first page posted to the current page.
Please note the numbering of the pages will change when you do this so the most recent page will read page one! even after another page is added to the thread.

This might assist those who have been starting at the first page.

Boy, 10 pages so far and not a stick of wood has been cut yet! I think that at the least we will need a new thread for the actual build, or perhaps (as has been suggested) a new forum topic just for the current cook-up build. There certainly is a lot of interest this year.

Really marvelous and inspirational posts, Bob...say, wasn't Thanksgiving last week?  Grin Grin Grin  Actually, those of us who are "lame" probably should get a head start, right (I'm paraphrasing Gen. Horatio Gates in his "retreat" from the Battle of Camden)?

I recall Bob, that you always wanted to build a Spitfire...this would be a perfect time for that Comet dimer.  Love your posts, Bob.

Neal, there are only 10 days Tongue and a wake up then we can start cutting wood and making a mess and a general nuisance of our selves at home Grin.

Thanks for the comment it is great to hear that other people love this hobby as much or more than I do. The posts I have made are to.

1. inspire those who are in the cookup and keep the interest up.
2. tempt others to join.
3. keep me out of trouble Cheesy (idle hands rule).
4. just to look at how beautiful those airplanes are, especially the videos with sound.
5. once the cookup starts there will be plenty of great photos of everyone's builds and I will be too busy with building to just post.

Here is the Aeronca L: a really nice airplane and I still have the plans from the last time I built one. I also have a kit from Penn Valley for the same.

Sorry no videos.

Bob,
It wasn't your fault it was mine in not knowing the full Dime Scale rules.  I think another rule I violated is that this is a bit too modern an aircraft for Dime Scale.  The F8F came late in the war and probably wouldn't qualify for Dime Scale.  Sorry guys.  I am redoing it in the Dime Scale simple construction of box and former construction with few wing ribs and spars etc.

Bob posted my F8F Bearcat and I drew it before I found all the info on the Dime Scale and Pseudo/Dime Scale and saw that the dorsal and ventral keel and formers are not considered Pseudo/Dime scale.  I'll have to redo that plan for y'all and make it a true Pseudo Dime Scale.
Sorry about that!!!

Tom
