GUIDELINES AND RULES FOR WARBIRD STUNT EVENT:

•   AIRPLANES must be at the very least semi-scale and be readily recognizable for the airplane they represent. The airplanes can be profile and/or built-up fuselages. Some examples would be the Pat Johnson military designs, Don Hutchinson series of war bird planes, the old Midwest kits and plans (P-39, P-40, P-51), Al Rabe designs, some of the Sterling kits (Spitfire, Hurricane, YAK-9, P-51). These are just a few examples. There are many others too numerous to name.  Some may simply scratch build their war bird planes. Modified non-military airplanes that are made to loosely resemble military planes will not be allowed (ex. Mod. Ring Masters, Flite Streaks, Veco Chiefs, Militarized Twisters or similar designs).
•   Airplanes shall have military finishes, or finishes that relate or depict their mission. Fancy Air Show/racing paint schemes will not be allowed. However, paint schemes found on military demonstration aircraft are OK (ex. Navy Blue angels, Air Force Thunderbirds).  The intent is to have airplanes that represent the military theme for the sake of honoring their place in history, the men who flew them, the hard workingmen who maintained them and kept them flying, the men who designed them, and the men and women who built them.
•   There will be appearance points – Exception- Canton, GA- NGSR contest
•   The stunt pattern will be the modern AMA pattern w/ pattern points awarded.
•   There will be no skill classes in this event for the Canton contest only.
•   There will be a PILOTS CHOICE award for the best war bird plane-based on fit, finish and likeness to the aircraft it represents - the plane must have been built by the contestant.

PARK AND LOCAL AREA INFORMATION:

Etowah River Park has nice manicured grass flying surfaces, permanent clean brick restrooms, walking trails, paved parking, and river scenery. We are very fortunate the City of Canton has allowed one of its parks to host a model aviation event for the first time. We hope to make it an annual event. Brown Industrial Pkwy. ends at entry to park – veer left and follow road to large grass area surrounded by sidewalk.

Canton is located near the foot of the North Georgia mountains. It has nice ole time downtown. The area has an abundance of great trails, rivers, apple orchards and vineyards. Lake ALLATOONA  is nearby with campsites, RV areas, etc.   In addition, there are outlets stores about 10 miles south of Canton on the I-575 corridor. If coming from the South exit off I-75 to I-575 to right at exit 268. This will take you on towards Canton. Most of the motels in Canton are off Exit 20.

MOTELS IN CANTON, GEORGIA AREA- Prices listed are from early fall 2017- subject to change
