Another repost...
The Chambermaid was originally know as the Phantom and had a metal cowl.  Was pranged on a rough landing and later rebuilt as the Chambermaid, which is I think a play on the builder/pilot's name Russel Chambers.
Here's a peanut Phantom/Chambermaid

Beautiful model, Tom....and you got me.  Of all the photos etc. I've seen of a Mig-15, I never noticed that canopy frame running down the middle!  You get extra points for that detail.  Grin

Srull Mig-15 enlarged to 27" wing span.  This was built using the reed technique for the fuselage formers.  I'm pleased with this model and I'll be using a home made Laribee "MIL" prop with clear blades.

Veron's F-86 plan with modified wings from the plans 25 degree sweep, bringing them to the 35 degree sweep as on the real 86.  The fuselage was done with reed formers and 1/32X1/16" stringers more in the Koutny style.

That canopy was made of sheet plastic.  Like the old Comet kits!  The windshield was done with a pattern cut from paper that I fitted to the rest of the canopy and trimmed till it fit the way I wanted it to.  Then it was glued to the rest that was sheet glued over the formers.  No vacuum forming.

When I do vacuform I've only had it cloud up when the heat source was held too close to the plastic.  I just hold the plastic sheet over the heat source (electric stove burner) till the plastic sags below the edges being held by the frame.  Then quickly place it on the vacuformer with the vacuum running!  I also coat the plug with baby powder rubbed on the plug and then gently blown off.  This wipes off the plastic once it's cooled.  A bit of rubbing alcohol cleans up the canopy very nicely and easily after it's formed.

Tom, nice looking Helldiver. Smiley How did you keep the canopy so clear? My vac process will produce a light cloudy look in the canopy. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks fellas for the nice comments.
Not yet Bob...the rain is here, spent yesterday digging ditches and building berms to divert the water running off the street and right into the carport and under the house.  Not good.  We got 5.3 inches of rain yesterday.  The street drain was block under the street.  We cleaned out the drain cover but found the blockage under the street. The city came out and cleared the blockage  but the water just kept coming.  The joys of the Pacific Northwest!!!! Shocked Grin

We don't own the house but we don't want it sliding down the hill!   Shocked

Gotta build a stooge for the Connie... haven't quite figured that one out yet!

Couldn't get the SBC on the last post so here it is...

Love your Connie...you've done justice to what must be the most beautiful airliner ever created...really nice job.  With that much wing...she's gotta fly well.  Wonder if more turns on the inside motors might be in order....maybe some experiments?

When I was kid, a TWA Connie and a United DC6 decided to fight it out over the Grand Canyon (a couple hundred miles south of here)...everyone was a loser...but it sure changed the way the FAA tracked flights in real time.  Seems the GC was a seam between LA and SLC in which aircrews were allowed to deviate and fly VFR...so those two decided to sightsee the GC for their passengers...and a midair resulted.

Better luck for your Connie...much better luck.
