If your small scale has a clip on lid...often the lid has a recess to turn the lid over and place on the scale and then recalibrate your scale to zero allowing you to place larger objects on the scale.  That's how mine works that I bought from Harbor Freight...

Here's thread on building a beam scale over at SFA, but I'm not sure it will work well for you. Depends on how you make it, especially the pans.

Sure it's a wrinkly mess, but it flies.

Homemade gram scale??

Somewhere I saw plans for a gram scale.  It must have been on another forum, but I can't remember which one.  Does anyone have plans to make one?  I have a small digital, but don't see how to weight my plane using it.

Thanks for any help  Smiley
