If you cover the rest of the plane with your hand, the nose looks like a great white shark, but that doesn't help you identify the plane.  Looking for aircraft designation, and powerplant brand and designation. Grin

In fact, if you cover the powerplant with your hand, the identity of the airplane is much easier to guess.

One of the interesting things about it is the powerplant. Cool

This one is a bit odd.  That  long nose would make for an interesting rubber project.   Smiley

Yep...the first Lockheed program for this series called "Archangel" in house. These were single seat aircraft.  And as you said they led to the YF-12a interceptor, then to the SR-71 two seaters.  I believe there were 18 made and a couple were lost throughout the program.  Here's a link to Wikipedia: Click Here

Ok, what have you got for us?

Okay.  Lockheed A-12.  The CIA called the project Oxcart.  It led to the YF-12a interceptor, the M-21 drone launch vehicle, and the SR-71 Blackbird.(originally called the RS-71, but president Johnson misnamed it in a press conference.)

Must think their propulsion system is pretty reliable!!! As Ian pointed out it's not internal combustion... Shocked Roll Eyes

I love the shape though!

That configuration certainly shows a lot of confidence in the reliability of the drivetrain...

It kind of reminds me of the 1936 "Things to Come" movie.
