OK...I believe it's a Breguet Br-270 Observation aircraft of the French Airforce.

Br-270

Those roundels were misleading at first....Brrrr our weather has turned cool here.  Moving on toward winter.  I think I know what it is, but shall wait on others to respond...

Which movie? The Capelis XC-12 was used in about 19 movies, including Five Came Back(1939), Flying Tigers(1942) (my favorite, other than 'King of the Zombies') and Immortal Sergeant(1943) See: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capelis_XC-12.

For a single aircraft that was grounded as soon as RKO got hold of it, it did a lot of 'flying' and 'crashing'.
For King of the Zombies: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xs4ApsGryPo

Tom has nailed it, one of many ugly aircraft the Navy thought they needed in the 1920s

Monsieur Fillon has a peanut plan of this one (available on Outerzone), but it isn't French. Neither is it a British Bulldog, although it really is some kind of a dog.

Bet the pilot would get sunburned in that open cockpit...But it doesn't look like a dog!

Yes sir. Absolutely correct. It has those classic early experimental rocket lines.

Seeing as no one else wants to nail this I'll put up my hand for the Sud -Ouest SO 6000 Triton as displayed at the Musee de l'Air et de l'Espace at Le Bourget Airport

Grin Reminds me of a Hitchcock movie North by Northwest with Cary Grant, James Mason and Eva Marie Saint.
Obviously, you know this one and are throwing 6000 hints their way. Don't let Poseidon distract you with his implement of destruction now!

The layout of this aircraft reminded me of the X-1.
