I found pics of the plane that match the drawing but the twin tail setup put me off.  The original pic has a single tail setup....

Correct, Tim, and here's a sketch of where the wing and engines came from.  Only a few were built, could be a subject for another MP.

The mystery plane was put together by some fellows in Tulsa and licensed and flown as an experimental, of which only one copy was built.

I agree; looks a bit like a Piper Apache.

Whoa, that's an oddball.  Looks like somebody made a twin out of a Stinson Flying Station Wagon, but I don't think it's the factory built example (was developed by Piper into the Apache).

Am I close?

How about this one, Tim?  We took this photo at Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1967.

Haha, she's not very roomy for sure but they did free up some space inside by staggering the seating.  The two seats on the right are set about six inches back from the two on the left to make more shoulder room without making the fuselage wider still.  As for weight, I've never heard of the one I'm involved with carrying more than three people at a time.

I'm certain I would  max it out just by myself....I also don't think anyone would be able to sit next to me.

I believe the aircraft is a Thruxton Jackaroo... I think a few more were made as Rollason Jackaroos.

A modified De Havilland Tiger Moth made into a 4 place tourer.  A small batch was made from war surplus Moths following WWII.

This is my guess.... Smiley  check out this site: http://www.airteamimages.com/search.php?srch_keyword=Thruxton%20Jackaroo

TK, that's exactly why I'm headed down to Oshkosh.  My dad and I have been talking about going there for the past twenty years and this year we're finally going to do it.  The camera is charged up, the memory stick cleared so there will definitely be pics.

If I can find time to get to a scanner tomorrow morning before my flight out of town (going to Oshkosh!), I'll drop a big hint elsewhere on this site.  If not, the hint will come in a week or so when I get back.
