Hey Jim,

How's the trimming going on the Hellcat and 109?  Hope to hear from you soon.

Happy Landings,

Excellent!
Half a circle is a great start. It takes a few tries to get one trimmed out. Sometimes where I fly it gets crowded and I don't get as much air time as I hoped.
I remember one time I took one to trim. The glide was fair, so I thought I would add some rudder and a few winds.
POW! right into the bleachers and I brought it home in a bag. Cry
My next one was better.  Roll Eyes
GREAT that you have friends to fly with. !!!

got the wing reattached by gluing a strip odf 1/32 to the center .  Now the wing saddle has something to hold on to.

For those interested in a bit more on Adolf "Dolfo" Galland here are a couple of places to check out:

Youngest General of Fighters at age 29.  His pilots loved him.

Fantastic report Jim,

Thanks for the update and it looks like a great site for some indoor flying.  Great to hear you found some flying buddies.  You are very fortunate indeed.   Smiley

went to the Moncton Fun Fly today and joy upon joy, rubber planes were just fine.  they had three guys there loving rubber, me, Ward E and Tommy W winding away in our own little corner.  I did manage to get a couple of flights out of the Me before crashing (no pics in flight, my camera is not good enough) but by adding decalage to the tail she behaved much better.  I flew using a plastic prop. Smiley and she flew a half circle.  better'n crashing ! Roll Eyes

Jim,

Everyone seems to have a way of trimming their planes.  And they develop their own system.  Here's a few trimming suggestions on our site, flight trimming board.

The Me sorta flew in a long slow decent.  i tried both the three bladed and the plastic prop with same result > No climb.  I've added some more decalage to the tail so we'll see what happens.  Adding weight to the tail sorta helps but it must be done in tiny increments.  i'm more hopeful with raising the elevators.

Plane now fully marked and complete .  I've left off the Kill markings and the mottled camo to keep it simple.  Flying this weekend should complete the build.

Found this quote in a Aircraft Magazine, and further varified it in his Obituary found online,

"Goering, irritated by the Luftwaffe's inability to clinch victory, asked the young ace sarcastically what more he needed, to be told, "Herr Reichsmarschall, a squadron of Spitfires!" Galland said later that he preferred his own Messerschmitt 109s but was not prepared to allow Goering to get away with the jibe."

Apparently "Dolfo" was quite a character and well respected by his contemporaries on both sides of the conflict.
