Bob,

The Vultee canopy is looking good, a lot of frames on that one!

The Monocoupe has just a few more details before final assembly.  I'm most concerned about making the small teals and registration #'s on the rudder.  Oh, and windshield.

OK! Finished the Vultee V11 and now to take it and the Aeronca LC for some inflight photos if I can persuade my brother to take the pics.

Tom, I revisited the Veron At6 / Harvard plan and took a look at the rudder and envisioned what you just posted and I now see what I could do with this plan in the future. You mentioned a past build of this plan, could you repost the photos or direct me to them?

Bob... I saw a fellow modeler can't remember which one who cut a strip of light balsa 1/4 or 3/8 wide and as he said, "I walk it around the outline of the stab and vertical stab using angle cuts. I leave the jagged edge outside the outline of the rounded surfaces ensuring good gluing joints. I then cut out the outline of the empennage and wingtips too, draw it on the glued sticks and trim and sand to proper shape."

Basically like you did the horizontal stab of your Vultee.  Except they have the outling already cut.  Don't worry about the outside as long as the shape is covered by your strips.

I found a picture in John Ernst's flicker page that shows this process.  So it must of been John I was thinking about.  Here's a link: Click Here

The canopy frame is coming along nicely.  This is going to be a real looker Bob!

A little more slow progress on the canopy frame (tissue application) for the Vultee V11. After I finish the canopy I will draw the landing gear outlines and go fly weather permitting.

I found a color scheme that I like for the North American Trainer aka Bt-9 or Yale:

Terry, those rocker panel/bumbs look great and I agrees the Monocoupe is taking shape.

The Monocoupe appearance is tidying up a bit with the contrasting details going onto it.  Here are the cowling bumps.

I've been looking at it as well, but I've always planned on building up the tail feathers as conventional models.

Bob... where did you get the plan for the North American Trainer? The only trainer I remember them making was the T-6/AT-6 Texan, SNJ or Veron has a nice one of those, only I think it's the Canadian name "Harvard". Tim did one awhile back! His was very nice.

Tom, I have looked at plan off and on for the past 4 years. The solid tail feathers keep putting me off even though it is a good looing airplane.

Thanks David, that is it and it looks very much like the North American Bt-9
