Eric,
The Luscombe dimer is correct @ 15", but you can scale it up 5% if you want - pretty sure it will still be "legal".  There are some dimers that are only 12 inches!

Go ahead and put my name on the list with the Comet Fokker D-VII.  Whatever the case, it is one of my "must be built" models, so I may as well get it out of the way Wink.

Merry Christmas!!

I'm in with the Luscombe 50.
I believe it fits in the dimer rules. Mine printed out at 15 inches rather than 16.
Will that be ok?  If so, will get started sometime in the first of January.

Eight more days, a newspaper and a full glass of Pepsi then I get to start cutting balsa on either Art Chesters Racer or the Vultee Attack or both. Cheesy

Hello thymekiller glad to have you aboard.

DIME SCALE taken from the FAC rule book:

(description)Dime Scale models come in two flavors: Traditional, and Pseudo. Both compete under the same rules.
Traditional Dimers are built from plans produced during the “golden age” of modeling; Pseudo Dimers are built
from contemporary designs that honor the methods, structural simplicity, and details typical of those early plans.

LINK to their rules page:

http://www.flyingacesclub.com/1819rulesA.pdf

I could not find the Yahoo link, if anyone could post that please do so.

And here we all are so far:
NAME:               MODEL FOR BUILD:
Mitch J.                Globe Swift
Tom Akery           Stinson 105
Bob Rippy            Art Chester’s Racer
RMFF                    Fokker F-ll
Thymekiller                  ?

Could someone post a phone number for the co moutian men club?
Might be able to visit.

Yep, that's one of the reasons I decided on it.  This will be a fun build.  Looking forward to this cookup.

Still have to finish the Starship too.  Got to finish up that obligation.  Still getting settled here in WA and experiencing snow and cold weather.  Big adjustment for this relocated Californian.  But do love this new home.

I have finally found an internet provider so will be able to keep in contact better now!

Alright guys...I've made a decision...

I'll be building the Stinson 105.  A big thanks to HD for the links to the plans on Outerzone.

This one should be a good flyer and fun to build.  Maybe the Reliant later with the radial engine.

Pete,

I do understand, but feel free to jump in if you are able it would be rich to have several sharing tips as you stated. That is where I pick up ideas on how to solve many problems.

Bob

Cookups, tho they have a "finish by" date, don't usually place it at top priority - unless there is some kind of material "prize" that is tyed into actual flight times.  These get togethers are just that - something that we get to do "together" and swap tips and big fish stories Wink.   Like HD said. a CU is our "virtual back room at the LHS".  CU's usually run about 4 months and those who finish on time get prime bragging rights Wink.

I've participated in about 30 CU's since getting back into FF with maybe 3 on-time completions and in one case I actually finished 2 aircraft Shocked.  My work area is cluttered with at least 12 unfinished CU projects that get a new part glued on once in awhile...

I have TEN projects lined up for the winter - five of which will be for hobby defrayal (hopefully) and my interest is drifting toward OD duration and vintage(Super Scorpion, Sailplane, Zombie and New Ruler.  These are just the FF and rc-assist...

Fitting in a CU just might not work, but I'll try...

No, thanks for the prod but I must stay voluble at this time (wow, don't that oughter go on a tee shirt? "KEEP CALM and STAY VOLUBLE"...); no stick&tissue in my present cramped environment, and certainly no sticks at all in my present cramping hand! I'll just enjoy the fun from a distance, okay?

"Stick and Tissue as club" - a few years back I had a think: usedta be, all us kids would hang out at the local hobby shop. That was the center of our universe, it was where we would discuss what we were doing & what was new merchandise of course, alla dat stuf. The reely good LHS would have a back room with a big table where we could come and work on projects &c., and THAT would be our focal point.
Nowadays, there ain't no LHS. Not unless they're online, nohow.
So, it's natural that we now congregate around these Virtual backroom tables! It only feels a little different, right? Like, you don't have to walk home in the rain.
