Here is a jig I recently created for my Master Airscrew balsa stripper. It has been working great for me.

The blade is set up for me, a lefty. I feed the wood through the blade with my left hand while holding the wood against the fence with my right, using two fingers, one on each side of the blade. I have been setting the blade about 1/32" off the base surface, and so have to pass the balsa through the blade twice to make a complete cut.

The base and fence pieces are scrap from woodworking projects past. I'm sure that 3/4" pine (or other types of wood) would work just as well for a base and the fence pieces, provided the surfaces that the balsa touch are sanded and finished to produce a nice smooth surface for the balsa to glide over.

I use a picture matte cutter to strip longer (30") pieces.  For the shorter pieces I use the small stripper sold on websites.  The matte cutter cuts a perfect strip every time.  I can strip up to 1/4" thick.  It can even cut at a 45 degree angle if needed.  Works perfect!!

I made my own following the basic idea of someone else I saw somewhere on the 'net. It uses a double edge razor blade and a set of spacers for each size. They're held by 2 screws that pass through the stamped holes in the blade. The piece of wood just behind the screws covers the blade so I don't cut myself on the upper edge. Wood is slid along against the fence from left to right in the picture.  In practice, I hold the stripper in my left hand against my stomach with cutter side out. I then feed the wood through from my right to my left. The box serves as a storage area for the spacers and screwdriver bit. It does a good, but not great, job. It's one of those tools I use on just about every build.

David, l am in the same boat and if you could find those videos l would appreciate the effort. Those  home made tools usually work better than the store bought type.

I have a real weakness for tools and a real shortage of finances to purchase them.

For stripping long sheets, I mostly use what most everybody else does - the Master Airscrew. But for the shorter stuff, (12" and less) these little things work VERY well. I found these on a Youtube video, I think. They use a 1/2 of a double edge razor blade set at a near 45 degree angle. Put each one together in under 10 minutes and built from scrap. I use them ALL the time!

The adjustment screw on the 'Master Airscrew' Balsa stripper is a # 10 by 32tpi bolt.
#10 refers to the diameter. 32tpi refers to the 'threads per inch'.
Every FULL turn of the screw/bolt is 1/32".
Hope this helps.

I found this reference to the McLeod balsa stripper, answered some questions of "How to Use" for me.  I see the original had a block for feeding the balsa through the stripper which the A2Z authorized McLeod stripper didn't include.  I'm going to make a block for my stripper.  I think this will improve my success with this new stripper.

Keithhs stripper looks very good.  I envy those with the skills and equipment to produce such tools!!! Smiley

Well Done Keithhs!
