Bummer Bob...we've had some sun here but high winds with gusts...blew a limb off the tree in the backyard. So no flying here either.

I had planned on flying (6) aircraft today, but it has been raining since Sunday. I had moved to Austin not knowing that the wind here never dies and it is taxing on the moral of those who love to fly FF. I think it is less windy in Chicago Grin

Looking good Bob!! The Wren has been on my "to do" list for a while now so I am keen to see how this one flies!! (You've actually reminded me about my Wagtail-I reccon I was going to try to make a bungee set up for it. I'd forgotten all about that.....need to start thinking about that again!!)

@Bargle: it was an easy build and l have too much time on my hands so it was fast to build.

@Terry: l plan on taking it out this Thursday to trim and have fun, what length line do you suggest it will be a small field? BTW there are some wrinkles, they usually don't show in the photos.

Hey Bob,

The tissue covering looks real nice, I don't see any wrinkles.  Will you add any decoration or ornamentation?  You've excited my childhood memory's of model gliders.  Once trimmed that incredible glide ratio,  the sensitivity and stability to the slightest air currents.  Just real exciting.  I hope that's what you experience.

Great job. BG. Looks better than something I'd spent a month on.

Sure it's a wrinkly mess, but it flies.

Thanks Tom and Pete for the card stock idea, l will try it after the first flights and l share the photos.

I am now getting the board ready for a Berkley Sinbad Jr. I thought that it was just too pretty looking to pass up.

Nice looking Wren!  Try tissue over manila or even normal (gray) thin folder stock instead of white card.  It'll kill that "glow" effect.  One can really control that effect with the careful choice of backing.

Holding out on us for sure!!!!!! Smiley

The Wren looks awesome Bob!  Love the black and yellow.  I agree with the covering the wing center section with the 1/32.  I'm surprised the plans don't call for some reinforcement.  You might try covering some cardstock with the black tissue and covering that area with the covered card stock.  The yellow over the cardstock might stand out a bit much/ then again it might not!  Just a thought. Shouldn't add too much weight in that area.

Again well done Smiley

Now you're cookin', Bob! What size sticks does it call for on the fuse? I never looked that close, but the Wren has always appealed to me since the first time I saw the plan. Looks like it's going together pretty quickly too.

If yours does well, I may just have to throw one together too. Still pondering my next build right now.

Well, I need to modify this post to say it WENT together pretty quickly!! I think you've been holding out on us!  Grin

Frog's approach to the wing spar was a little different to my thought and l am still not happy with how it came out plus now that the wing is covered l see the need to have covered the center section with some 1/32 to protect the wing from the rubber bands.

Tom, that is the yellow tissue purchased from the Dollar Store and l love the shade. l just could not settle on a color so yellow and black came up while l was looking at some pics.

The stab with the twin rudders appealed to my when l was picking out which airplane to build and the stab is attached by rubber bands to the fuse which could me if I need to adjust a turn l could askew the stab.
