The first test flights went well.  The Pup seems to need a bit more nose weight.

Parts are dry fitted and pinned together to show how the Pup will look like.  So far every thing fits well enough.  Next to glue the doublers in place and to attach a few alignment strips to the horizontal stab and rear fuse.  The Pup should fly soon.

With a ball point pen and the patterns we drew the parts onto the balsa sheet and  cut them out using a razor blade and curve or straight edge.  The nose doubles are to give the forward fuselage more weight and to allow for a removable wing.

The pattern sheet is scanned and printed to cardstock.  The card copy is cut up to form patterns for cutting balsa.  A wing from a Guillows  glider will have its wing tips trimmed a bit and used to simplify the construction.

The basic shapes were printed to a sheet of paper.  With a pencil, curve, and a ruler, parts of the Pup are drawn to get these patterns for cutting balsa.

Most of the black is rubbed out and the major shapes are grouped together.

We start with this illustration and tiny 3-vu of the Pee Wee Pup produced by Joy Models back in the 1950's.

Thank you, Tom and Bob for your kind comments about  my brief wander into nostalgia land and our flying experiences of time past.  It seems that in this brave new world filled with frenetic fast paced activity and seeming madness that much of my past is being reduced to fond memories and pictures.

Well, on to my next swinger, a mini modified Pee Wee Pup.

Al, thanks for the photos, they bring back memories of my Mothers side of my families farms. I love the twin, shame it did not fly. The bipe looks interesting, I am still trying to locate some 1/2 balsa locally for the HOUNDOG fuse.
