Awesome video.  Would love to see that in a bigger area.

The Fillon's copter has a gearbox located in the rear of the fuselage.
I pay attention to this, because I get models with rear centering.
Therefore, on my model I placed the gearbox in front.
In addition,  I lengthened the nose by 1/2 inch, instead of a scale.

I also on the R44 model shifting the center of gravity by tilting the rubber motor.
The rubber motor survives bending by 20 degrees well without a gimbal mechanism. As on this model: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MTBUVc9kz5k

thymekiller, I watched the videos.
I think that the reason for flying with large rolls is the insufficient performance of the flybar. I recommend increasing the length of the flybar, replacing the blades with lead weights. A free-flying model needs more stability. It is given by the gyroscopic moment of the flybar.

PS Of course, radio-controlled helicopter models use blades on the flybar, because stability and controllability are needed there (two factors)

pb-guy, I think your right.  Thank you.

I have one that I thought comet made that tried to fly. It was mostly wire. I will try to find it and post a pic. It might not be a comet. I cant remember.

The 2 main issues I found was the torque required is alot more than people think, and the center of gravity is too close to the center of lift to be stable. Like those ww1 airplanes with the nose super close to cg, they are prone to go where ever the wind blowns them.

Shtefan, I think you are correct about rods and gears.

The Comet Sikorsky R-6 was a non-flying model chopper.

It's very nice when someone likes my work. I've put it off until better times, I'll try to come back next summer. But I bought a small JET
BD-3 lathe for making shafts, hubs, etc. I also purchased various carbon rods. All this will allow me to create a more productive design. Fillon's copter has flexible shafts, but it was he who inspired me. I don't like flexible shaft. I like bevel gears, gears are not as difficult as it seems. I'm not indifferent to mechanical watches.
I have the subject "MI2 rubber powered" here, there you can see the details
what is comet model plan for helicopter?

Love your vids!!

That plan looks complicated. Have you tried It?
Seems like gear drive is needed for the torque, but I have not been able to build a set to withstand the torque. Have you?

Also, have you tried the comet model plan for helicopter?
