I loosen elmers school glue by dobbing a drop of water on the joint with a small paint brush. It takes time to soften, but it gets there.

What kind of white glue are you using?  Some will soften with water (school glue) some are pretty water proof (Tightbond III).  Try a web search for removing the glue you are using.

never had much luck loosening white glue and carpenter's glue after it's set without destroying the wood at the joint.  Duco can be loosened with acetone! 

Glue stick can be loosened with rubbing alcohol/isopropyl alcohol sprayed on the tissue and left to sit a bit!

Beginner - how to loosen white glue and glue stick

I'm just started building a Waco model from an Easy-Built kit.  I am using white glue.  How can I dissolve if I make a mistake?  Would the same be true for carpenter's glue?

Finally, how about loosening glue stick with tissue?
