A little more work done, finished nose plug assembly, used foam and balsa for this, just need to seal and airbrush, also added cockpit instrumentation, now on to building engine housing.

Started covering the bottom of the fuselage, better do this first before I start building the engine housing or I will be resting this down on top of a finished housing.

I will do my best Tom, Thank you, I covered the top of the fuselage with tissue already, just need to shrink it and give it a shot of Krylon to seal it then I will start laying the rails on and design the formers, we will see how creative I can be.  Tongue

Sorry to hear the foam didn't work out.  Your sketch is super! Love to see this kind of drawing.  Great talent!  I think this is going to be a real neat bit of craftsmanship.  I shall follow this with great interest.  My soda and popcorn is ready...lead on Ray!

Here is where my thoughts are at the moment for making the engine housing, lay 1/16" rails on top of fuselage to make an out line of the engine housing, attach formers to these rails to form the basic shape of the housing and using stringers complete the shape of the housing then cover this structure with thin styrene sheets, paper and tissue, should be light weight. We will see how this goes. Just a quick sketch of what I am planning.

Alas the pink foam just did not pan out well, at least not to my liking so I will have to build the housing out of formers, thin sheet styrene, paper and tissue, this option will take a bit longer than the foam would have but I want it looking good.

Thanks Tom,

I think tomorrow I will tackle the engine housing assembly, I decided to go with pink foam insulation material and paper for this, once made I will hollow it out and see how much it will weigh in at, fingers crossed.
