DOHRMC ,
I see you use a new reply for each photo.  You can post up to 6 pictures on each reply.  To the left of the "reply" box below the "More Smilies" box is "Attachments" with a + sign in a box.  Click on that box 5 times and you can now post six (6) pictures in one reply!

dohrmc...chalking looks great.  That shot showing the wingtip almost looks like LED lighting!  Great looking model! Smiley

Another shot. I chalked the tissue to deepen the colors.

I still need to key the wing and tail, but it is essentially done. Thanks, George Bredehoft, of Volare kits, for your excellent design.
I hope to try some trim flights in the next week or so.

I have never bothered to do that, just a couple of coats of dope works fine. It really toughens up a prop like this one, made of light wood.

Do you sand the silk after some dope?

I am doping the Casano for covering, so while things dry, I am back to working on the Bad Axe. This thing will have to ROG, so the prop has a big chance of hitting the ground hard. So, I am putting silk on the blades. This is the back side of one blade.
I am using silk scraps to do this. It's expensive so I throw nothing away. Silk is easy to work wit, just dampen it, and put it on the well doped blade with thinner. Once it is dry, make sure you get dope on the parts that overhang. That makes it much easier to whack off the excess with a sanding block. Don't try to overlap the silk. This makes a very tough prop. Front side tomorrow before I go to work.
I am a short timer, just four more simulators, and I am retired!

Storage jig for the wing. Stays on this until ready to fly. Stab lives on one too.

Thanks! Here is an almost done shot. Next, putting on the cursed windows-I really dislike that part.
Tissue is all chalked to brighten up the colors.

This is how it looks. The wing was very floppy before, now quite stiff. While I would not use it as a tire iron, I think it will be very good at preventing warps.

Here is what the strips look like pressing against the outer covering.
