I have used this hone. Have a few in my tool box. They are nice to have. I mostly use my leather strop and a few different compounds to keep my #11 blades sharp.

I have been using this hone for quite some time and it is very effective, have not replaced a scalpel or #11 X-acto in about six months. The technique is important however. Both blades are longer than the hone is wide so align at an angle. Lay the blade flat on the hone (in a handle - don't handle these by hand) then lift the non-blade side slightly and push or pull away from the sharp side. If the angle is too shallow, there will be fine scratches on the main part of the blade if at the right angle very fine hone marks will be seen on the sharp part of the blade. Be careful - it may be sharper than the original.

Ian posted this link and I wanted to share it here so it could be found easier.  These are diamond hones of various grits.
I use a diamond hone, an $8 tool called Eze-lap (1200 grit) from Lee Valley to sharpen, and re-sharpen all my blades; double-edged razor blades, Craft cutter blades, knives, scalpels ...

Thanks again Ian
