Bit the bullet, and finally built a new fuselage. Extended the nose by 1", just so everything fits with being right up against the wing leading edge. Extended the tail 5", to try to help with the massive nose heaviness. Pretty much used the full length of 36" balsa. The fake aileron look, extends much further back than the hole in the fuselage shown. So hopefully that will be helping with CG. I have never been down a road like this before. A lot of second guessing going on, before a decision is finally made. Baby steps.

The reason this project died, was because mid build, I decided I wanted it to be electric, with throttle control. With some help, I was finally able to decide what motor and ESC to use. I think I am going to build a new fuselage. Add as little length to the nose as I can to get things to fit. And, for better or for worse, like 3 or 4 inched to the length of the tail. It is massively nose heavy at this time.

Well, it's going to snow. Look what I've decided to dig out and finish. I glued a second layer to the underside of the wingtip grain direction issue, going side to side. And then finished all my bracing.

Hey, what's a plan if you can't tweak it a bit to fit your building style?!!! Roll Eyes Wink Cool
I have trouble just building straight from the plans.

You might also consider laminating the wingtips with the grain running crosswise.  Just a suggestion. Tom

I agree with you on the tip grain direction. After I glued these tips on running fore and aft Shown in one of the pictures). I read an article how all tip grain should run side to side. The wing is still a work in progress, and there is going to be allot more tip braces on it, than what there are now. More like the original plan shows (shown in the first picture). I'm going to just live with it at this point. Maybe I'll glue on some doublers around the perimeter to make the tips more like 1/4" thick. Rule #2, shoot from the hip.

Forgot to mention this. Tried to give the wing a little more of a look of the true Stuka over the original plans. Modified the wingtips. Haven't decided on the grain direction for the aileron/flap look yet. Running it side to side sure would be easy, but I wonder how strong they would be. Running the grain front to back would be stronger, but wondering what would keep all that end grain from warping and moving. Guess first thing is to see if I have some harder balsa for the wider inboard areas first. Maybe not have a space between the flap and the fuselage, and glue the end to the fuselage. Not sure how I am going to get these on straight/aligned after the wing is glued into the fuselage either. If all else fails, go to plan "B", shoot from the hip. I think I'm starting to like the idea of glue them to the fuselage.

Haven't seen a Stuka Stunt in years. (way too many years!)

Looks like you've got a great start.  Will be following along on your build.

Control line flying seems to be picking up all over the place.  Here's hoping it will continue.  Our club in OKC is having a lot of fun with it.  Last Saturday, we had 16 plains at the circle.  Not bad for the end of February. Grin

Keep us informed on the Stuka, and any other builds.  Flight photos are always welcome.

Guess I will install the adj weight box in this airplane. It's already built.

Thought I would take a picture of this for the fun of it. This is what is being taken of the workbench to continue with the Stuka. My Uncle Jack sold my Mom this kit back around 1978. Never built it back then, because I new I would just make pieces out of it. It's a Carl Goldberg Skylane 42. This is going to be 2 channel electric RC. Thought I would keep the airplane as original as possible, and keep it a simple stress free flyer.
