I took the model to the FAC Outdoor Champs and Ted Dock Meet last week at the AMA site in Muncie IN. Here's some flight videos:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zZhw9-JxxwI&t=96s

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5AHa2DAe1TE&t=6s

I had only a few trim flights on the model for the first mass launch event. I had it somewhat sorted out for the second (Ted Dock) mass launch, but caught a gust on launch in the second round and crashed out. Damage was just a crushed wingtip and cracked prop - it'll fly again.

What an outstanding model Mike...you've out done yourself!  Museum quality and I know you have air under her wings soon!

Thanks Ray!

Finished up the Wedell-Williams racer today.  Just under 51g without rubber, will need a gram or two in the tail to move the cg back to where it should be.  This was a fun build, almost entirely per the mid-1930s plan.

Thanks Neal.  I agree with your thoughts on the framework - not high-fidelity scale, but it just looks right.  First frame of tissue is pre-shrunk and dry, time to start covering!

Beautiful bones...so crisp and clean...your "standard" work.  I really like how the horizontal tail surfaces join the fuselage...and the "integrated" wing fillets...and those beautiful wheel pants.  You've got a special model there, Mike.  A real classic.  Smiley

Thanks Tom.  Been looking at the model, pictures and 3-views all weekend to plan an approach for covering - tomorrow I start eating the elephant.

Bones for a Wedell-Williams racer.  Built from an incomplete mid-1930s kit - the fuselage formers and wing LE are new, but most of the rest is 80+ year-old printwood and stock from the kit.  24" span, bones weigh about 31g.

Here's a 24" T-28A in USAF markings from a PT Aviation prototype short kit.  All-tissue finish, the white and orange tissue were chalked to bring out the colors and the lettering and trim are cut from black esaki.  Insignia and the Systems Command shields are printed on white tissue and opaqued with white colored pencil on the back.  Weight without motor is just under 54g.

The color scheme is taken from an aircraft that spent many years at Edwards AFB, first as part of the T-28 flight test effort then later as a chase/photography/utility bird.  It wore several schemes over the nearly 20 years at Edwards - this scheme was captured in 1964 over NAS El Centro chasing an ejection demonstration from a Navy TF-9J (the Edwards T-28As appear to have regularly chased parachute test missions in support of the USAF's 6511th Parachute Test Group, which was based at El Centro). Picture is from the National Museum of Naval Aviation archives.

Hope to get the freewheeler on it and start trimming later this week.

fantastic jetcat (catajet).  Love this model and sure makes flying rubber power almost take a backseat to the catajet.  Thanks for sharing this beauty with us!!! Smiley

Me-262 jetcat from a short kit designed by a friend in Canada.  17" span, 26 grams balanced and ready to fly.  Finish is printed tissue, with the graphics adapted from a flight simulator "skin" found on the web.  Trimmed easily and flies very well with a very repeatable climbout and transition to glide.  Best flight so far is 29 seconds.
