Thanks Paul and Tom.  I snuck in a windy initial trim session yesterday - video at:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rcu44vkCmoY&t=7s

Tough to assess progress due to all the atmospheric interference, but it looks promising.

Thanks Neal - I love this model and couldn't stand to see it consigned to a life without flight.

I finished my latest build yesterday - a 26.5" span Wicko Wizard from a 1939 AJ Groom plan found on Outerzone.  I started this for the RCGroups Vintage & Oldtimer Outerzone No Picture build-off, but finished it a couple months late...  Build thread is at:  https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?3159292-CAP-2019-%28was-OZNoP-201....

Finish is white Esaki with printed graphics, chalked white on the back side.  The prop was carved following a method published by Don DeLoach in the September 2008 issue of Flying Models, and uses one of Mike Mulholland's in-spinner freewheelers.

Came out about 44g without rubber, had hoped for 39g but oh well, I've flown higher-loaded models.  Looking for a break between wind and rain here so I can start trimming it out.

Now that was some serious AA, Mike...however, all things considered...could have been worse.  Great job of re-constructing...model has some authentic combat "character" now...THIS IS NO HANGAR QUEEN!  Smiley  Love your rendering...terrific model!

Rebuilt and re-marked my Guillows Skyraider - it had suffered an extreme motor blowout at WestFAC in Oct 2017 (and flew a 44-second flight with one longeron severed in several places).  Couldn't stand to see it gathering dust so I rebuilt the rear fuselage and printed up fresh markings on tissue.  While I was in there I moved the rear peg forward and trimmed out some of the structure aft of the peg.

Thanks Doug - if you go to most Flying Aces meets you'll find folks who build as well or better than I do, and make their planes fly MUCH better!.  I'm just having fun trying to keep up.  Look forward to watching your Ercoupe come together.

Cheers,

Mike

I just joined this forum and ran across your Hanger.  Great looking builds!  Your attention to detail and finish work is the best I think I've seen.  Well done!

Got the Wedell-Williams fixed and airborne again - was able to take 3rd place in Thompson Trophy mass launch and 3rd place (of four...) in Simplified Scale this weekend at the Texas Scale Champs.  Over the last couple two weeks I also stripped, lightened and re-covered the West Wings Tempest using printed tissue.  Reduced the flying weight by over 11g, was able to get a 71-second flight and finished mid-pack in WWII mass launch at the contest.

Still deciding whether I like the flight simulator skin graphics on the Tempest - lots of detail, but the translucency makes the colors a bit muddy, overemphasizes the weathering in the graphics, and looks a bit delicate for a warbird.

Love the in-flight shots of your bird.  As an old RC buddy used to say, "There are those who've crashed and those who are going to crash, no one is crash free!"

I'm sure you'll have her repaired and back in the air soon.  Neal said it all!   Smiley

You've got one beautiful model there, Mike...the detailing is OUTSTANDING!

Now...I'm afraid we'll have to revoke your flying license until that wingtip is repaired.  Cry  Honestly...could have been much worse...looks like the spars held up well. (no sagging rigging at all!) You'll have her flying again in no time at all.  On the other hand, Mike...she's truly a museum piece...stunningly beautiful.

Beautiful model,Mike! Smiley

I took the model to the FAC Outdoor Champs and Ted Dock Meet last week at the AMA site in Muncie IN. Here's some flight videos:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zZhw9-JxxwI&t=96s

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5AHa2DAe1TE&t=6s

I had only a few trim flights on the model for the first mass launch event. I had it somewhat sorted out for the second (Ted Dock) mass launch, but caught a gust on launch in the second round and crashed out. Damage was just a crushed wingtip and cracked prop - it'll fly again.

Beautiful job, Mike.
