Yes, I did get lots of people stopping by to chat, and got a lots of nice compliments and real interest in the balsa Free Flight Rubber Powered hobby - (my mom even showed up for the show!  Smiley  - I usually mail her pics of my planes 'cause she likes to look at them) - a lot of "ooohs" and "ahhhhs" about the laminated wood props.  It turns out that my mom actually "really" knows a couple of the old guys who volunteer on the Mosquito build - so we had some good conversations about the olden days when these guys were kids and where they flew their control line balsa planes in the old neighborhood before it got overpopulated with houses.  They could not afford r/c models because it cost $300 back in the 1950s and early 1960s to equip one.  I also found out that all my uncles (my mom had 4 brothers) were all also balsa model builders when they were kids.  They never tell you about these things ...  Wink  Yes Ian, I agree, it is the real aircraft hobby.
     Here is one little story - I am about 8 yrs old about 1964 back in the  fields and forests across the creek, and I hear this engine motor buzzing around, and I was wondering just what was that sound I was hearing, and I go investigate and I find these older teenager guys in a field by an old orchard having a great old time flying a red balsa Fokker triplane U-control (control line) with a cox .049 engine, and I was very jealous at how much fun they were having ...

Thanks for all the photos. Yes, your mom looks pretty good, especially when holding the airplane. It was good to at least put out a display so that others could see what the real aircraft hobby looks like. Did you get some people dropping by to chat?

6461 and 6462 are the hubs on the unidentified prop blades
6465 me and my 80 yr old Mom who decided to check out the show - she looks great and is aging gracefully
6466  my Mom holding my Spad 7 (her favourite)

Well gents - that's it for the 2017 model show - we hope to have a good one next year - hopefully open to all, and more balsa models - last year we had gas engine free flight balsa models, and control line balsa models, and r/c balsa models and static display and Free Flight Rubber powered balsa models.  Come on out next year if you can ...  Cheesy

Well, I got a lot of pics from the "Plastic" Model Show yesterday.  They advertised the show as a "Plastic" Model Show - I tried to get them to include everyone, just like the last two shows (they are actually building a wooden Mosquito bomber in that Historic Hangar), but the posters had already gone out ...  Sad   Still can't figure out why they did not make it a show for all models in the first place ...    Undecided
     So I was the only balsa representative ... took a lot of pics anyway though, but I did not even enter a model - just put them out for display  Smiley
      So, anyways, here are the pics - pretty neat though, and very interesting.  My buddy,  ol' Terry Thompkins won the "Ships" category with his beautiful wooden r/c boat the "Creole Queen" which was marvelously detailed inside and out - I should have got a pic of the wooden paddle wheels that took him 4 months to build.

Thanks ian - that red finish on the D7 was from a couple of spray coats of Krylon Clear gloss - I had finally tried it after reading so many raves about how it brings out the color - and it DOES bring out the color all right !!   Smiley   I really like your Piaggio too! A BEAUTY !!
Boats and Trucks ??   One of the guys who volunteer restoring the Mosquito, had a BIG, sails and masts, wooden ship with all the rigging etc., at the last show - it took him 3 years to build - WHAT A SHIP !!!!   There should be everything in the show this year, of all types of everything ...  This time I am armed with a digital camera and spare batteries and spare compact flash cards ... I will be shutterbugging ...  Cheesy
