I'm in  Smiley  I'll start on the cook up plane after I finish my current build - Little Gem.

I will be building the Hot Stuff racer  Cool  It's been on my build list for a while now and yes, it's another race plane.

I have no plans or 3-view drawing.  I have a collection of photos that give me some good working images.  It's going to be a challenge - plus it's one curvy little plane!!!

Has anyone seen a 3-view? or plans?  I don't mind help.

Question:  Just to be sure, in this cook up we can build either Peanut or Dime scale - our choice - and any plane?  Also, is Dime scale 16 inch span? Are  there any other rules?  What is Neo Dime Scale?

Did you ever find any drawings for the Hot Stuff, I have 3 views but that is it.

Field repairs always left panels with mismatched colors...no problem.  Looks great! Smiley

A great video but some scary moments in the early flights. Also  a truly great model and there will be the right combination soon. Thanks again for the video.

Thanks AK, it was a bit overpowered with the 3/32" rubber.

The fins and stab had warped quite a bit over the last 18 months, so I built a new set this week and got them on the model yesterday.  I used a bit stouter wood this time, not a problem since the model is noseheavy and flies with a lump of clay on the aft end. I also used Krylon clear spray instead of dope to seal them, hopefully this will keep them from warping like the doped tail did. Finished airframe weight with the new tail (less motors) is just over 15g.Only drawback is the fresh blue tissue looks much different from the faded tissue on the rest of the model - not much here to cry about...

I made up a pair of 11-inch loops of 1/16" rubber (~1g each), balanced it out at 17.1g and took it out to fly this morning.  After a long session of glide trimming I started working power into it.  With a bit of additional downthrust the model is on the cusp of greatness, but just doesn't quite have enough power to get there.  Flights are much steadier and more stable, but even approaching max safe turns (~1300 per side) the model can't climb much.  Best flights were still about 20 seconds.  Next time I'll tie single strands of 1/16" and 3/32" tied together and see if I can hit a sweet spot.

Now that's living up to its nickname! I bet there was enough thrust just from one motor to fly that just fine. Really neat model and video! Thanks, Mike!!

Any flight that isn't a destructive flight is a good flight! It really looks good flying!

I glassed the props with 3/4oz fiberglass - seems to have taken care of the problem at the cost of 2/3g additional weight up front and another 1/3g at the tail to balance it out.

Flew it with the new props today.  Flights were brief, often spectacular, and a lot of fun!  It bounces nicely.

You could hang light wire 'whiskers' off of the front end plugged into the noseblock so that they absorb the landing shock before the props strike. In flight, they would be invisible. But, because of their 'bendiness', it may not work as well as imagined.

I got a brief chace to try her out yesterday morning.  Test glides went fine.  I put 150 hand winds on both motors and gave her a toss - flew beautifully, but the grass is short and dry and the ground is hard (not much rain since July) and I cracked both propellers on landing.  Have some light fiberglass and resin on the way to fix that problem...

That's probably the biggest drawback to twins like this, the Hornet and the Westland Whirlwind - the props are always the first thing to touch the ground.

I have high hopes once the props have been glassed.

After fighting with the three-bladed props on the Skyrocket for 18 months I bit the bullet and carved a set of counter-rotating 2-blade props for it.  4.5" dia, 1.4 P/D, carved following a Don Deloach prop block shown in the Sep 2008 Flying Models.  Doesn't look as cool as the kit's three-bladers, but I want to make this thing fly if at all possible. If the wind is calm enough this weekend I'll see how they do.

Just re-read Crabby's description and his work surface is 50X50 inches.  So not so much bigger than the 4ft (48") I described.  But the surrounding area of the work area is at least 6"-10" larger.

Must be two Peanut plans on the board! Grin Cheesy Wink

I think this summer I'll give it a shot for my building area.
