Just a quick side bar note:  I was turned on to a new product called Molotow Chrome.  It is almost spelled the same as an explosive cocktail but with a "w" instead of "v."

It comes in marking pen form and is easy to apply.  I noted it in the "Tissue and Finish" site.  I urge everyone to visit and see the photos.  It's truly gives off a realistic metallics finish better than anything I've ever seen. .

Yep, you're getting into the macro lens range here.  But it's looking good!

Hopefully these two images will be better to illustrate the gun sight

The front "No Hand Hold" lettering is still out of focus with the camera.  I believe it's mostly due to the varying distances between the instrument panel in the back and the gun sight forward and at close range, the camera cannot manage the depth of field.

Sky9: Thank you.  I knew by saving those small Christmas lights would pay off someday.

I'm still working on the gun sight.  It's a bit more work than I had anticipated, but then again, on. this particular model, one cannot be too surprised.

Cheers,

Gary

Starting on the gun sight, means searching for the right sight that will work for me.  There really aren't too many variations. so that part makes my life a bit easier.

I'll be working on the sight for the next few days and will report when finished.

Thank you for looking in.

At first I couldn't figure out where there was a glass object!  Then I found it in the picture and bingo! Your solution is outstanding!  I shall remember that when I need one for behind the pilot in one of my early jets!!!

I then applied all of the steps I've used in detailing the cockpit and got these results.

Not perfect, but I can live with it.

Now to the gunsight and that should complete the cockpit interior portion.

Whew!

Ooh I tried all manners of what could I do to replicate this glass fixture?

That's when (ahem) a light bulb went off in my head.....

Good evening to everyone.

First order of business is research.  In this case, it was a combination of using models from someone else's kit and the real aircraft.

One of the issues that perplexed me was how to replicate that glass fixture......  Roll Eyes

Thank you, sir.  Really glad to hear that. Made my day.

i'm starting on the radio stack tonight.  My daughter's coming out for the weekend.  Small delay, but progressing.

Oops.  In my haste I forgot to mention how I achieved the headrest itself.  I used a small piece of Flite Metal.  It has a very strong adhesive backing.  I simply cut out the piece roughly oversized and snipped dozens and dozens of tiny slits into the edges around the circumference,

The thin strip was going to be used to wrap around the headrest, but after I saw how it turned out, I decided to leave it alone.  The tiny slits made it look more realistically fabric sewn onto the form.

The masking tape was used to protect the seat back from the black spray paint which was peeled off before gluing the seat to the back headrest.

Thanks for looking in guys.
