Another note, I am using ABS material for the bracket assembly, ABS is a high heat material, less susceptible to friction heat.

First unit almost done, will post pictures tomorrow.

Hi Marlin,

The U-bracket unfortunately is necessary to maintain stability of the unit during operation, I have tried to free float this type of drive and it will flop all over the place, this operates like a moore drive that I had in the R6, the plastic tube that will be within the U-bracket will have a little float room so I do not foresee this building up a great deal of friction during operation but we will see when I actually try it.

Engineering suggestion?  Would it be feasible to let the aluminum tube part float free?  My fear is that the bracket might introduce too much friction as it contains/rubs against the aluminum tube.

Marlin

Common straight pins are used to pin everything together.

I found the ideal tubing to make this drive out of, disposable pen tubes, also an aluminum ring, even the end cap can be utilized in this type of drive, if it works I have got to get a patent on this design, I should have a working prototype of this drive finished by tomorrow or Friday.  Smiley

Ok, brain blast, I got it, I have designed a miniature double cardan U- joint, this will allow us to run the rubber motor the length of the fuselage and link both front and rear rotors together using the same rubber motor.
I will start working on this drive in the morning and will post pictures in a day or two.  Smiley

Hello everyone,

I have not forgot this, still working on something for you to build, the Piasecki will not allow larger motor sticks, best size motor stick would be only 5 to 6 inches long, have to go another route.
