I did not stretch wind it.  Does that help?  So, it sounds like if these rubber motors grow over time, it’s normal.  It just seems weird that after a few uses and a month of setting on a shelf, that their physical properties would change so much.  How often do I replace the motor?  Weekly?  Monthly?

I'm assuming your stretch wound the motor for your few flights.  This means that the rubber would now be longer that originally measured as the rubber relaxes after a stretch wind.   This is not unusual.  Hey fellas any other thoughts?

A Question About Rubber Motors

I'm sort of new to this hobby, and I'm puzzled over one phenomenon regarding rubber motors.  I recently completed a Stinson Reliant peanut model from Easy Built.  I few it a few times, and left it on a shelf for a few weeks.  I noticed that the rubber motor had grown considerably.  I had lubed it with ArmorAll.  I had something similar happen to previous models.
Is this normal?  What should I do about it?
