	Alfakilo...sometimes in the trimming process one discovers that with the rear motor anchor, to get the model to trim you have to use quite a bit of weight in the nose. If you have the option of moving the motor anchor up one bay, you can move the motor up and reduce the weight in the nose thereby extending glide and enhancing other flight characteristics. So I thought I'd design that option into the plan, so the option could be used without major rework when and if it were decided to move the motor anchor forward. Getting too wordy now...hope that made sense! Tom

	Had some build time yesterday...got a fuselage started on the Northrop Raider. As previously stated...design/problem solving as I go...rare bird...no kits or plans available. I think the point of a trimotor model is to "simulate" the functioning of the two outside engines...unless of course, you're building a jumbo...in which case you may have enough nacelle to get some kind of motor length. At least...that's the case with my efforts. There's always the challenge...which for me is merely to get a model with a single motor to FLY. Anyway...basic fuselage structure has commenced...now to add weight. Neal

	Maxfliart has some great videos on Youtube showing winding and launching multi motor rubber powered models: Here's one Click Here Not sure just what you're asking in the second question? Two sets of motor mounts? If you mean the two locations for the motor anchor, that to give the ability of adjusting the motor and CG with a braided motor. Sometimes a longer motor is not the answer to the flight performance one is looking for. So I just wanted to prepare for the possibility of moving the anchor forward one bay. As for launching multi motor rubber powered models there are several methods. Some just use their hands to hold all three props till launch. Others use a strip of foam on a board or foamboard that will span all the props involved that can be moved away before launch. Pres Bruning's Connie demonstrates this method very well: see picture below.

	AK, Take a look at this video of Dave Rees' Bellanca trimotor. You'll see he (and Tom Hallman) using a block of foam held in the left hand under the nose of the model to keep the props from turning. While holding the model ready to launch with the right hand you move the foam down away from the model to release the props, then launch just like any other model with your right hand. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NAE12Bhr99Q Kinda makes you want to build that Bellanca, doesn't it? 	I've always thought this airplane had a "all business" look to it. Can't wait to see your version! I'm not sure I understand the reason for two sets of motor mounts? Another question...how is the model launched when three motors are wound?

	Well the plan on the internet needed some rework for what I wanted. So I redrew it. Here's the plan. Will still need some tweaking I'm sure as I build this one. I will modify as needed. EDIT OF PLAN #1 Tom

	21", Neal. I converted a 3 view into pdf format and then printed that out at a larger size. I thought that 21" was relatively big but in reality for this design, the build would have been easier if I had gone with a bigger model. As it is, with the light balsa I'm using, too much breakage!! The 1/32 stringers are really fragile!

	Good lookin', Alf! I must have missed it...what's the wingspan on your model? Sure I'm gonna use those bulkheads, Mike...they are made of balsa...albeit very dense stuff. I've still got to lighten the load a bit by cutting out things here and there. Lamination's way too much work for this guy...I'm still hacking and coughing up a storm...trying not to be involved in anything much right now. I mostly sit and stare at it...is that a bad sign? In fact...I'm lucky that I've gotten this far on my "Raider." Tryin' to talk it to death first.... I just watched a film produced by the Brits after WWII...they rounded up a bunch of German rocket techs, had them go through the process of assembling a V-2 (A4 to the Germans)...then all the steps to launch it. Might have been nice duty...away from the front lines and all...but somebody had to be nuts to play with that toy...really risky stuff! Neal

	General lash-up minus gear. I think I'll forego the wheel spats. Color isn't clear, probably aluminum, I'll go with a light grey from EasyBuilt.
