I am certain that the leading edge was in fine shape when we took it out to fly. No hanger rash. As far as good high speed video, all I have is iPod Touch. My baby blues will have to suffice.

The glider also came off the tow line too soon. So I'll be working on a new hook for the fuselage and then make sure that the bit of line with the streamer is not long enough to foul the stab. The line with the streamer is maybe 4 or 5 inches down the towline to help keep the streamer away from the glider.

Could be several reasons for your difficulty.  I'm assuming that you thoroughly examined the glider before your launch.  To make sure you model was not damaged with some kind of hanger rash prior to your day of flying. 

With the short catapult launch with a length of rubber the duration of the launch is very fast and short.  The length of the new launch apparatus (I used to call a High start) with my RC gliders keep the model in acceleration for a longer time so if any oscillation happens it continues for a longer time that can cause damage to the flying surfaces. 
This is strictly speculation not having any video to check or having more information.  So it may or may not be what you've experienced.   Embarrassed Wink Cool

Ok, no tissue here but I have nowhere else to go.

I have an enlarged version of John Oldencamp’s "Lunchbox". Today I tried launching it using a camera tripod, a 5 or 6 foot long piece of rubber and about 30 feet of light fishing line. It worked great. But at the end of today’s flying session I noticed damage to the leading edge of the port horizontal stabilizer. This is an old model and I have been using at the "traditional" catapult launch with the six inch loop of rubber and a short stick with no problems for a couple of years.
What am I doing wrong with the new-to-me launch technique?
