You never fail to impress Neal. She's a real beauty especially with the sunlight shining through. Almost makes it look like a two tone of silver and white. I most eagerly hope your statement to end is the completion of the trimotor and not the modelling. Love the pics! Glad you've got the weather for it. We're looking at snow coming and low teen temps.

PS  perhaps you could use a break and build something more relaxing such as an Me323 Gigant or Spruce Goose Wink Grin

Well folks, as Popeye has stated, "I had alls I can stands an' I can't stands n'more."  Orrrr...as Jim Morrison lamented, "This is the end, my friends...."

Thanks, Tom. Wink

Well, "Take ye what is given and be thankful...." or trying to make the proverbial silk purse from a sow's ear...I'm afraid that a 3D printer is a bit out of my league...wouldn't it be nice....  Grin Grin Grin

She looks great.  And the engines turned out very nice using the kits vacuformed plastic.  I've always liked the Ford Tri-motor! Smiley

Thanks, Neo!  Wink  Airplane is a big boxy thing that has been very simple to construct...until I arrived at those little outboard engine nacelles...getting them to exhibit some kind of structural integrity.  Took Ian's suggestion and used the ancient skewers that I had on hand...very strong.  All the strut attachments sort of demanded that the nacelles be uncovered while making attachments...and that resulted in a total ordeal when covering them! All right, wasn't that difficult.  Shocked  Worked out OK.

Wing fairings are tissue covered (two layers) cardstock...used the Sterling-supplied plastic parts to create a reasonable-fit pattern.

Motors are my total cav-in to the kit...plastic.  Could easily fabricate from balsa...but truth is...I'm very much out of "mojo" on this project.

It really is nice to hold it all aloft and look those lines over...and as you've said before...make the appropriate motor sounds, et al.  Grin Grin Grin

Thanks, Neo...good to "hear" from you again.  Wink

My Neal that really looks great. The cockpit to wing and wing to fuselage is accomplished with great finesse. And those wheels and motor fairing attachments....hooooweee Smiley
Was wanting to comment but was waiting for the outdoor shots. Thanks. Now with the weather turning bad I suppose I'll have to content myself with the coffee table venue Wink
Wonderful job!

Are there any aircraft supply stores in your area? Here in St Louis, we have Wicks right across the river. A quart of butyrate or nitrate goes for about $15.

Well...to barrow a phrase from Craig and Sam (Clemens), rumors of my demise have been a bit premature...paraphrasing of course.  Silent I've been but still at it.  Have covered the beast...sans doping...and therein lay the rub...no more butyrate dope...all gone.  I've tied all that other supposed substitute stuff...which imo is far inferior to good ol' dope.  So, here I sit, "buns a' flexin'...."

I'm about the go off to Lowe's and procure some brush-able lacquer...I hope...even that is becoming a rarity.  If I can find it, I'll cut it a bunch and hope for the best.

Yep I was just teasing about the brush...but that would work...If printing be careful that the printing is water proof for shrinking the tissue.

Why not print thin parallel lines on silver tissue and use that to cover with?

There's a Junkers D-1 build on HPA where the modeler did something like that.
