Sweet, Bob.  Looks like a cool Hellcat from here!

It will likely fly away... Wink

Thanks Mike and KF. I remember the wing span rule. I was just thinking of the heavy kit wood.

4X reread KittyFritters post re: how to size the prop using the airplanes wingspan and then dividing by 3.

I have a Peck 6” prop (black), Guillows 5.75” (red), and another 7” prop (beyond the kit prop).
Which one would you recommend to try first?
I also have 1/8”, 1/4”, and 3/16” rubber, which should I use for this model and what size loop (or more loops) would you recommend?
(It’s only my second model, the first one is a Guillows Aeronca Champ, and I’ve never flown them...)

Finally attached the canopy, but have not done anything to the frame work.

The kit comes with that 4 3/4" guillows prop. I think it will need either a 6" or 7" prop.

photo 3 is with a 7"
photo 4 is a 6"

The general rule in a rubber powered model is 1/3 the wingspan for conventional models.  (Super light, indoor models with very slow turning props  are a completely different dynamic.)  That 7", Chinese prop weighs quite a bit and will act more like a flywheel than a prop on anything with less than a 21" wing span.  Most 500 series kits will fly on a 5-1/4 to 6" prop.  Use your gram scale to weigh the props you have.  Sometimes you can improve the trim simply by changing props.

There is quite a variation in weight between the different brands of plastic propellers.  My simplified kits all use a 6" prop but I supply Pecks with the Plain Plane and Satellite and an EB prop with the Double Trouble because it needs the nose weight.

On ~17" span I'd go with the 6-incher.  The Guillows Skyraider and Typhoon flew very well for me on 6" Peck props.  Looks great Bob!

Thanks guys for the kind words. The kit is laser cut and just builds it self.

Mike, I will use a 6" Chinese prop.

Bob - You were moving right along, 7 days from laying the first stick to waiting on the canopy and then flying. Anxious to see a flight report. Any idea about the propeller and motor size?

Nice work Bob!  The dark tissue certainly does hide the burn marks from laser cutting.

Since the fuselage is more of a barrel I had to attach the tissue in strips to keep the wrinkling to a minimum.
