Ian, the bones are looking good.

Mike, thanks for the photos re: windows. You fixed my problem for the Waco. I could not figure out how to install the side glass. Now Ive got a place to start.

Good-looking bones, Ian, and quite light.

Progress on the Broussard has been a bit slow - just haven't been fired up to finish it.  I did put in a few hours here and there to get the glazing done.  Paper templates for the windows, covered with tissue attached with spray adhesive.  Glazing is lightweight clear gift wrap plastic.  Not many excuses left, going to have to mount the wing.

I have done a bit on and off. I moved the rear peg placement forward by one bay. Then I cut back the material aft of that point to reduce the weight near the tail. At the moment, the weight of all components less the LG is 7.9 g.

Craig, those wheel pants and cowl have raised the bar. I now need to work cleaner, sand more, and take my time.

GREAT JOB!

I started the Waco Coast Guard.

Nice shiny wood...what did you seal it with? Did you sand it between coats?  Looks fantastic!

I love a good "bones shot" as well as the next guy, but a disarticulated skeleton is as good as this one gets- it doesn't lend itself to an easy dry assembly  Sad 123.25 in/sq WSA- 26.67 g as pictured. There's no wire in the LG, but I have it on good authority that all those Fairchild struts impart a lot of load-spreading. I think the bottom longerons are probably going to get some reinforcement at the gear/strut mount area before the covering starts, which is likely to happen as soon as I refine a windshield template.

Bob,
I believe the tip should align with the L.E. (Leading Edge) and T.E. (Trailing Edge)   If you look at the rib side view in the upper wing plan it shows the L.E. and T.E.  alignment.  The tip wood (I believe) should align with the L.E. and the T.E. thereby making the tip high off the building board to meet the L.E. and flat on the board to meet the T.E. unless you've propped up the T.E. to build in washout.

QUESTION:

the wing tip meets the center of the rib 1/16 from the board. Ive always built the tip to the bottom and sanded it to fit. Should the front of the tip raise up to the rib?

1. tip raised to center of rib front
2. tip flat

I like cabin biplanes like that Waco. They end up quite sturdy.

One of the finished LG legs here attached to the tubes epoxied to the rib. I glued up the wing tonight. One mistake on a rib out of place yet to be rectified. I have a thought about making the nose gear leg removable as well without cutting into the structure of the fuselage.
