I modified the patrol boat with a visor over the wheelhouse windshields and also furnished it with a console, ships wheel, and a pilot's chair etc..
the boat has been outfitted with the hardware included so that it can be motorized and have rc equipment installed. The center deck and cabin is removable

I should be able to post something ‘boaty’ pretty soon. Unfortunately some of the video I shot was lost. I’m not sure if it was the camera, the upload to the laptop, or the faulty operator that caused this, but I will have some vid for the channel and some pictures for the forum if folks want to see them..

I think the next project is going to be a Dumas boat. I have their old and now discontinued 1/24 scale 41’ Coast Guard utility boat

Heywoood, another truly spectacular model, beautifully finished and detailed. It is work of this quality that pushes me to another level. Thank you for sharing this project with us and, as always, I look forward to the next one.

Sky9 I will work on that high shot tomorrow and put it up

Gary - it was the pictures that brought it to my attention albeit too late. I just had my head planted somewhere..

Mike - Thanks - The Wedell Williams 44 in this scheme is EXACTLY what the Golden Age is about..I could not agree more.

Another beautiful build.  That color scheme just screams golden age racer.  Nicely done!

Heywoood,

As usual, you've completed another masterpiece while I'm still stuck on "stupid" with my Guillow's Mustang.  I have to admit that you've truly come full circle and did an incredible job!

I too have tried rubbing compounds to bring out that highly polished look of propellers, spinners and even parts of the model itself, and just like you, ended up with stuff all over my fingers and other places besides the model (think tables, chairs, etc.).  Even then, I was never able to bring out that finish that everyone else managed to achieve.  So you're not alone in that department.

Sky9 & Heywoood:  I've used the camera portion of my phone not only to take pictures of the model  (or various stages of the model), but also to trouble-shoot.  Many times, I think I've completed an assembly and have everything lined up only to have the photo reveal slight misalignments or something off-color or out of place.  It's a great tool.

Now I'm anxious to find out what's on your next agenda.  Another racer?

Gary

I'm always amazed how my pictures of what I felt was a completed model shows things I hadn't noticed before.  The camera never lies!  She looks fantastic and most of us probably wouln't have noted the problem with the inside of the spats!  How about a 6 o'clock high shot of this beautiful bird?   Smiley Smiley

Thanks, Kerak - I think we agree on both counts, the prop and RT !
I’m still wondering how I managed to mask those wheel fairing inners and even more flummoxed at never catching it til after full completion of the model. Luckily the paint matches well (I had to use an acrylic so as not to create a mess with the base white color) and I had one last new brush that was just right for the task.
I’ll have to be much more careful to review my research photo’s prior to painting ..
Thank you also for your complimentary assessment of my Red Lion result. Very much appreciated.

Prop is great, HW...as is the entire model...another museum-quality piece.  Of course...I'm partial to anything Roscoe Turner as well.  Smiley Grin Grin

I have used the testors buffing metalizer paints in the past but found them a bit messy (or else it was me) but I always ended up with traces of the stuff on my fingers - residue that would end  up on the model in places it was unwanted. Also it loses most of its wow factor when you put a gloss or semi gloss coat on it. I’d have to leave those parts off until after the clear coat had been applied to the airplane..I like the idea of it but not so much the practice. My prop in this image does have a shine to it that I like - a bit oxidized maybe..

Here's a suggestion. C1 Metalizer buffing powder (c1metalizer.com)
It works on any smooth/polished surface. If your prop is made of wood, you'll need to fill all pores completely and then apply. Here are a couple of pics that demonstrate its potential.
