Brad - Been the progress is coming along nicely and like your method of using dowels to locate the wings, should keep the incidence in place nicely.

Progress has been very slow recently, but I got a bit of work in today.

Tail wheel assembly in progress.
Cockpit/windshield surround done.
And I'm figuring out how to mount my wings.  I'm using small dowels for strength and alignment.  I will cut away the some of the tissue at the fuselage wing root as well for better adhesion since it's already been EZ doped.

I'm contemplating doing one last coat of EZ dope on the fuselage bottom with a drop or two of grey color added to hide/fix the milky issues I have.

More soon.

I unfortunately have had the same experience.  As you say the scoops etc. will hide most of it.  The tears you might want to consider cutting out a rectangle and recovering that section after it dries.

So, late yesterday, I Ez-doped the bottom of the fuselage.....  not so good.  Note to self "always stir the dope mixture or remake it more often".  Toward the end of the process, I was almost out of my diluted dope mix in my small cup, but I kept going.  The result is the milky, streaky finish.  Ugh.  And, I tried to stretch out some wrinkles from the wet tissue and it tore in a couple of places as it dried.  I've patched the tears from the inside and I will give the fuselage another coat of EX Dope (fresh mix) and hope it mostly clears up.  The cheek cowls and chin scope with also help to hide the damage.

I honestly do enjoy the challenge in model building of problem solving and fixing errors, crash damage etc.  That's where you get to be creative and use your experience.

Covering the fuselage went surprisingly well.  I applied the tissue with a slight 'spritzing' of water which really helped shape it to the curves.  I only torn through once - very minor - which is good sense this tissue gets very fragile when wet.  The yellow wings are covered with Esaki.  I included a couple shots of me holding the fuselage...... it's a fairly large model

Covering is underway!!  Tail feathers were first as a warm up.  Wings are covered and I'm applying EZ dope. Fuselage covering is started.  So far so good.  I'm not quite sure how many panels I will end up dividing up the covering to.  The few the better, but also it's more difficult ..... for me.

Cheek cowls look fantastic.  Great craftsmanship there!  This is going to be another of your master pieces! Smiley

Small update after quite a bit of time with a sanding block and then restoring to the belt sander and then back to the sanding block  Smiley  Cheek cowls are getting closer.

I successfully cut out the cockpit opening with my fresh blade.

I'm "" this close to start to cover the plane.

I'm very happy with how my wheel pants and wing tips shaped out.  Lots of time with the sanding block Smiley
