As the old saying goes..."Necessity the mother of invention!" I think you've got a winner there!

it's a VERY challenging build for me, I'm used to 1940's era old timers and piper cub types. the fuse turned out well, but nest time, if I build a Electra, those stringers need better alignment!
I'm pleased at the weight so far, I have the idea about using guitar string in tiny guide tubes to work my elevators....
I'm ALWAYS trying to think light....so...I know if she flies, then it will have a nice slower flight.....in fact, I have shelved the idea of retracts....I will have the wheels retracted in the final part of the build, just balsa replica's in fact....so hand launch and belly landings.

She's looking very good.  I really like your foam jig to hold the fuselage.  Leaves hands free to work all around the fuselage!  I have cobbled a few in the past for several models.  You're really catching the essence of the Hudson!

Nacelles are always a challenge.  It looks, from the picture of the nacelle plan, like there are dorsal and ventral keels.  These could be laminated with some 1/64" or 1/32" ply depending on the amount of strength you need. Then a ply firewall as needed.  With a removable cowling.  Lots of work there no matter how you decide to make them. 

I know with the electric motors the fire wall will be moved back from rubber position of the back of the cowling.  So this will require some engineering on your part.  Another option might be a rolled balsa tube that fits to the wing and the cowling over the motor attached to that.  I know this is the engineer as you go advice. I tend to build with the TLAR style of modeling.  You know That Looks About Right...

I took some time this morning and made a accurate/secure cradle for the fuselage. Now I need to measure a datum line somehow, and place my motor mounts on that wing stub
The motors will need a 6-1/2" outriggers from that stub...lots of room for error....the wings have a few degrees positive, so all these lines in a x,y,z need to be spot on.....but it's just a hobby, this might take a while!
Oh, I'm thinking on this 50" tapered wing, she could come in around 400-500gm....do you fellows think a pair of br1806 electric motors swinging 6" props??? I have one motor with esc from willies nillies...seems powerful!

Ailerons and elevator....im getting hinky about weight these days, I figured rudders would add lots of tail weight and no real need....
I've sidetracked to build a small Buzzard Bombshell, and to add a RC to my Guillows Typhon fighter.....a 7gm 2 servo lemon RX.......

Needs some detail work still on the rudder joints....but still I'm pleased with my weights. I will add the gun turret soon...still putting windows in it.
