It is incredible how fast you build Kerak.

This looks great.   Smiley Smiley Smiley

Re D Day.

My neighbor 2 doors away commanded a flotilla of landing craft onto one of the British Normandy beaches.
My next door neighbor was captured by Rommel's Afrika Corp at Sidi Rezegh.  There were heroes all around us, especially as school masters, when we were growing up.  Lots of interaction.

Went out for lunch today and scored 20 x 1/16 square at an art shop.  Balsa is hard to get here.

Cheers everyone.

Here's a bones shot...more properly...parts.  Ready for some coverin'n' details.  The DFW was really a remarkable airplane, considering that it had taken to the sky before August, 1914...very advanced.  I've read that it was very pleasant to fly...and reliable.

Here's a B-1 in Russian markings.

Interesting how people in our past have influenced us in a way that has stayed with us to this day!!

I call that a blessing!  I am truly blessed!

I love that wing!  What an unusual shape.  Did you add any washout under the tips?  Keep up the great work!

Love that wing Neal.  I want to make one and sand it, just to feel those curves.

Of all the spoked-wheels I've made in the past, I've never resorted to using a jig...but for whatever reason, those times seem to be finished.  Maybe I'll just leave all that behind....

Meanwhile...top wing assembled...except for a couple of small scrap pieces, it consists of 1/16" sq balsa stripwood.  LE and TE are laminated to help the wing hold its planform.  Single spar is also 1/16" sq.  Entire assembly is quite ridged and strong.  Single dihedral joint is on center rib.

Had a high school biology teacher who I belatedly discovered was a personal friend of my father...oops.  Always thought he was a strange old guy...until I discovered he was a D-Day Skytrain pilot dropping paratroops the night before...behind the lines.  That straightened my mind out pretty quickly.  Smiley  Went into the war as a cadet pilot and came out as a Lt.Col!  How's that for promotion through attrition.  Here's to you, Colonel Rollo Robinson!  Smiley  Today is D-Day...Operation Overload.  He used to start each class by reading Reader's Digest Humor in Uniform...secretly, I enjoyed.  Wink Grin

I like banana splits and yours looks great!  That is a really unusual wing shape!

Sorry to hear about the spoke wheels.  Did you take a look at the tutorials on making spoke wheels?  Here's one by G.Kandylakis: Click Here
Here's another one by John Berryman: Click Here

Thanks, Tom.  Was going to try my hand at spoked wheels once more...but alas, my skills seem to have deserted me this time.  Tried sever times...finally "chucked" it.  Wink Grin

Got some decking installed.  I'm trying to build "light weight," which is problematic...I've broken at least half of everything...at least once!  Huh  The upside...so far the weigh-in is hovering around 1.3g.  Not to fear...I can still easily exceed that.  Smiley  It looks like a lot of wood...but so darn soft...I definitely prefer something a bit more robust.  Oh...and every time I run a sanding block over things they get...less of.  Undecided  I know...STOP SANDING!  Wink

Like I said earlier...this is most definitely a peanut fuselage with a dimer wing.

That's the beauty of WWI-types, Toulouse...generally flat-sided...lend themselves to the basic box nicely.  In fact...the basic box...imo...is the way to go if possible for most model airplanes.  Of course...there are always those individuals who have a "better idea" out there...and that's the beauty of designing and building your own models...do it your own way...you become "the expert."  Those other fellas can do what they want...if they do at all....

Thanks, Toulouse.

Unique subject choice.
The fuselage basic box side view has eye appealing lines.
Going together fast and straight and true.
Excellent.
I will enjoy as you go.
