Started the morning by finishing up the covering on the wing.  Shrunk down the center section nice and flat.  Now I'm shrinking the outer panel.  Added a shim under the outboard training edge to induce a bit of washout.

Think I'll stop here for tonight.  Tomorrow's plan is to get the wing tips covered in the same green that's on the stab.

My worry is how to shrink the tissue on the wing.  If I try to mist the whole wing at once I'm sure I'll get a twist.  I'm thinking to wrap the outer wing panels in Saran Wrap so that I can mist/weight down just the center section.  Let that tissue tighten up (warp free) then repeat the process with the outer panels.  Making sure to induce a bit of washout at the tips.

I'll cross that bridge when I get there.

Incidentally, thought some of you would be interested to see what adhesive I use to cover with.  I know about UHU glue sticks and 50/50 white glue and water.  I however find that Elmers glue gel works very well.  Goes. where I put it and doesn't soak into the wood much which could cause warps.  May not be what everyone else is doing but it works for me.

Wing covering.

One thing I noted is when trying to tease out most of the slack, don't pull on the spaces between the ribs (leading edge to trailing edge).  By doing that dips form in the covering.  Pulling across (span wise) and also over the rib positions themselves (leading edge to trailing edge) seems to work best.  Hope that makes sense.

A little misting with plain tap water and the shrinkage has commenced.  I lined around the stab with some placemats to allow air to circulate underneath.  Hopefully ends up nice and flat.

I attempted to use kit tissue on a Guillow's Arrow once.
Fingers went through the fueslage covering in two places I noticed I also had multiple tears.  In frustration I stripped the tissue off but by doing so I basically ruined an otherwise, in my opinion, nice build.  For the Fly Boy I ordered some Esaki tissue from Easy Built Models so I can hopefully avoid similar frustration.  It was supposed to arrive today but got delayed.  If it gets here tomorrow I'll dive into covering.  Wish me luck.  Smiley. For the record I know there are modelers out that work magic with domestic tissues.  Maybe I will too when I get some more experience.

Watching it go together. Quite quick! What are you intending to cover it with? Kit tissue or ?

That's all for day 1.  Not too bad.  Got all the flying surfaces finished and ready to cover.  Really enjoying this!  Might be a bit before I start on the fuselage as I am not satisfied with the balsa provided.  I ordered replacement wood and with luck it should be here within a week or so.  Till then I'll get some covering done.
