That's the way I felt when I first saw the design!  Enjoy the build, and feel free to post pics here as you go - I'd love to see yours come together.

Ok, you did it. I fell in love with your plane so hard I got one for myself.
The lines are fantastic and the way you printed your tissue is just beautiful. I have never seen anything quite like it.
Just gorgeous.  Thank you for sharing this with us.
You have inspired me.

I'm going to start digging up the old tools. Mine wont compare to yours, not even close,  but I cant resist the build. All that curvy wood....  Cool Cool Cool

Took the Scimitar to the field yesterday for a quick session.  Motor was 7.8g rubber, 2x32" loops of 3/32".  Flying weight was 28.3g.

Flew pretty much off the board.  It was getting breezy so I kept it to hand winds.  600 turns had it cruising across the field for 30+ seconds, stopped after that as I didn't want to risk sending it off the field.  It needs more turn during power and glide, but it was too breezy to trim for that.

Video at:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VWIETGkbXA4

I'll fit a DT on it in the next week and hope to have a calm day soon to do some more serious power trimming.

It certainly stands out in the grass!

Thanks Ian, thanks Tom.

Embryo rules give bonus points for canopies and exhausts.  I spent a little time noodling over what might work with the color scheme, then got to work.

I carved a simple canopy mold, then shrank some heatshrink plastic over the mold.  Colored the front of it with a stippled pattern of green Sharpie, then covered the back with scraps of leftover tissue.  The rules require a headrest and some sort of pilot figure under bubble canopies.  I carved a couple headrests, then took some small foam balls that are constantly migrating out of the footrests in our media room and colored them with Sharpie to resemble helmets with faces.  Glued a set to each side of the fuselage - bug-eye canopies!.  The exhausts are heatshrink tube that coincidentally looks like insect antennae...

Crazy, but I like it.  Only thing left to do is a DT, then fly it.  May not happen in that order.

Got the fuselage covered and sealed, then rigged the fin and stab.  While that dried I covered the wheel pants.  Next was to sand the epoxy on the prop smooth, then give it a shot of Tamiya semi-gloss black.  I masked a couple of swirls on the blade just to make it mesh with the rest of the crazy finish.

Glued the pants on, rigged the noseblock and the airframe is now done.  20g, CG is in the general vicinity of the target location.

I still have to decide what I'm going to do for the cockpit and exhausts.

That's one of the pictures I had in my inspiration folder Tom.  Decided to press with the garish scheme.  Printed up the flying surfaces yesterday, highlighted a few sections with the PanPastel pearlescent colors, then got the tissue on the model and shot it with some Krylon while the weather was nice.  The EZ tissue goes from yellow-green to electric neon lime when the Krylon hits it.  The chalking came out a bit more subtle than I would have liked, but it works up close.

There is a yellow tiger-swallowtail butterfly on the West Coast.

This should be a bit more visible.  Graphics printed on yellow EZ tissue, which is a very bright Gatorade sort of color.  The left image is a photo of a butterfly.  The right image is a graphic made by loosely tracing over an image in PowerPoint, with some experimental shading in the colors using pearlescent PanPastel powders.  Sealed with Krylon (dope destroys the yellow pigment on this EZ tissue).

Still trying to decide between the butterfly and some sort of bird scheme.

Ditto what Ian said re: hard to find in tall grass.  But WoW what a scheme and on that  set of bones!  You're tissue printing skills still amaze me.  I've had some trouble with my Epson XP330 lately and have just got it working well with my computer.  I bet she'd look good in the air!!!
Look forward to final scheme and videos.
