Using 60-inches of 1/8th rubber. Added a touch more right-hand and downward thrust. I'm using 1/32nd and 1/64th shims to make thrust adjustments, so it's not the most accurate method. This was around 400-450 turns. It did not nice left-hand turn but did not climb that well. More turns will make it climb faster, but it stalls a little too easy. I think I might go down to a single loop of 3/16th and crank in more turns. Undecided Another problem is the grass is too wet in the morning. The thing starts to get soaked on the bottom after a couple of flights. Angry

I'm with you there.  I don't compete and am pleased if I can get a circuit overhead.  Sound like you have plenty of dihedral in both models and so the picture was camera angle that gave that impression.  Each plane has it's own challenges to trim and then some just fly right off the building board!  Keep up the great work!

The dihedral for the Dougles Dauntless is 1-1/4 inch per wing panel. The dihedral for the Vultee Vengeance is 5/8 inch per wing panel.  This is according to plan, but they do happen at different points along the wingspan. Both models have 1/16th of an inch of wing tip wash out.  I think the angle of my formers could be a little off, even though I used a former jig. I just have to work with it a while. My goal is just to get stuff to fly reasonably well, not compete in competition. Wink

It might be the camera angle but the Dauntless doesn't look like it has much dihedral.  But it's great  to see air under her wings!!! Smiley

Did some short early flight with the Dauntless. I'm using the same 60-inch 3/32 motor that I used in the Vultee Vengeance. It wanted to go too hard to the left. I had to give it more right hand thrust than the Vengeance. I also gave it some right rudder. That straightened it out more, but really hurt the glide.  Huh  This model flies a little slower than the Vengeance. I did up to around 350-400 turns and called it a day. I think this one's going to be a little harder to fly well. Undecided
