Thanks to MKelly for the profile. That would be better than what the kit offers. I will save that for later.

How's this for a sport window? I had to put marker at the top to get it to show up. You can see how shaky my hands are some times.

Here's a template for the aft canopy on the Guillows FW-190.  You can make the forward windscreen out of flat sheet.

Cheers,

Mike

I agree with Ian...a windscreen would be nice.  Love the purple stars!!!

Looks good to me! I like the open cockpit version. But a small windscreen would set it off nicely.

I just cant express how great it is to be back building and sharing. It really is peaceful.
Sadly, this one is finished. I want to start another but I have chores to do before vacation thing runs out. Hoping not to drive this winter, sure hate those pileups and closed roads.

Anyway, here she is. The joker will be our stunt pilot. Weighs 28 grams flat with rubber and everything. Doesn't feel too heavy but wont reach the stars, lol.

I think maybe next time I will use a marker and tint the stringers and such. The tissue is really thin on color. Will look great 200 feet away, lol

Almost done.
I need to dope it and maybe add stars and a pilot, maybe. Getting better at the tissue thing. I tried tissue that I had and again it stuck to the glass. Must be something on the tissue, will try an open frame and see how that goes. Only some tissues do that, so I'm sure its the tissue. I really like all the colors I have so have to learn to deal with it.
Currently loaded with 1 loop (2 strands) of 1/8 for trimming.
Again, just waiting for the wind to die back....

I sure do miss Esaki.

Nice to see these models.  After she flies (Fw-190) you might want to close in the cockpit for winter!!! Cheesy Grin Wink

Next up, same maker and series, FW 190
This one I never finished. I did cover the main wing and tail back in the day and the tissue is still good because it was stored properly, rather than just left on a shelf in a barn.  The fuse was pretty much complete, minus a few small details.
Today I made a nose block with magnet attachment and did some finish work and shaping/sanding. On the nose block I'm going to try just CA to hold the thrust adjustment. I can always pin it if I need to. I will try out some cool purple tissue and see how it goes.
I cant find the canopy, so we fly without one.  I'm sure you all remember the famous open cockpit version of this plane, right? It was popular mostly in the summer months because these planes did not have A/C. Also saved alot of money on Windex.

Got a pile of projects I meant to repair or finish but never did. In this thread I will try to clean out the dead and breath life into the salvageable.
First is  Guillows Messerschmitt 500 series plane. I have most of the series, but didn't finish them. This one I built on the road in the truck. It turned out decent and kinda  flew. The color was water color because paint can really stink up a truck, lol.
Turns out, it was damaged much worse than I thought and after a short try, I gave up. Just not worth the effort.
She will get a Viking burial.
