Yes, I agree! Getting those two cases even must have took some time to do. The main bearing on the crank has got to be close to perfect. Nice work! Smiley

oh yeah...the hardest part was no side slop on that crank!!! all hand work....jewelers saw and files/fine grit sand paper.....the two rods share the same journal, not sure if she will run, some fella's are saying it wont run due to the crankcase pressures....she needs to be same fire instead of alternate firing...in any case, there's a donor fellow that had extra parts...and wanted one, so, 2 more to do....then weld them all, then testing run.......and if it won't run....great paper weight conversation piece!!!! That's some pretty impressive machine work.
You filed the rod ends so you could get two rods on the same journal.

That is really amazing. ClickSpring level stuff.

Wow! Alternate firing? or Synchronous? Is it supposed to output like a .09? Or is it just experimental and we'll find out when we find out? Aluminum welding too! And on something that small!
Way to go  Smiley

The old timer plans usually showed a motor on it, sometimes just naming the motor....google it up, there were 3 classes, A B and C...I think 19---then 23---or a 60....
I think....

Good luck on that motor. I will be watching with great interest. Curious that the crank journal is wide enough for 2 rods?

I cant seem to load your pics and it's killing me. I like the sheet hi wing old timer.  I have one waiting on it's turn and I have no clue how to do it so I'm learning from you. Looks like ALOT of fitment.

Is there a way to identify a motor size? Maybe a number on it or something?

Sky9pilot....I plan to use a jewelers saw to cut the case, then flat sand each side to match on my Arkansas stones, and the flat glass plate I have...800grit....then there's a aluminum welding rod that use propane to weld with.
It will take time....but I sit with my wife all the time, so time is what I do have... Smiley
The pistons rods will use the same journal.....

Progress is looking good.  You must have some real skill to be able to machine work the case, rod and crank for the .049.  Unless they make a kit?  I hadn't seen a twin .049.  I still bear the scar on my finger from my first .049. I quickly moved to a sissy stick. Grin Cheesy Wink

Working on the pylon....it's to be covered in 1/16" sheet....but the sheet has curves to be done...mainly airfoil from front to back, meaning lots of fitting.

Once the bottom is done and sheeted, this bird will be strong! Tongue

More work...the pylon area seems rather delicate, maybe after sheeting it, it'll be strong.....having to use my little level, angle, and ruler to get this part done....

Super job on cutting that wood! Is that 1/8 inch for wing tips? What do you use for cutting out thicker pieces of wood? It looks like the wing tip parts were doubled up and cut out together.

Just a sharp blade in the old xacto knife, have not spilt blood yet on this build, but I keep a sharp blade now...light wood, clean cuts...
This is a tank!...full sheeting on the fuse...
