Black Smudging

Print Post
Recently, I've been having problems when trying to print tissue decals and coverings using a HP 8600 OfficePro ink jet printer.

I use regular printer paper as a backer sheet and attach the tissue to the sheet using either a glue stick of scotch tape to hold down the edges.

Lately the tissue comes out of the printer with black ink blotches or smudges.  Apparently, the tissue paper is "floating" up a little as it runs thru the printer and touches the printer heads. If the tissue was still attached to the backer sheet, this should not happen.

I think I may have found a simple fix. Elmers makes a glue stick that is designed to be easily repositionable. I outlined the size of the tissue on the backer sheet and then ran the glue stick all over the area. Not trying to cover all of the sheet, just getting a line of glue all over the paper. Pic shows what I mean.

Then I placed the tissue over that area and smoothed out any wrinkles. The paper printed perfectly with no blotching. The tissue peeled off without a problem.
