Love those old timers.
Yours looks great!!!!   Like the way you did your spars.
Such slick pretty bones, oh la la

If anyone thinks of it, perhaps I could get a link to the scaled down cookup?

Glad your back into it Pete.

Lack of supplies (namely tissue and also ducats) and not finding the goodies I know exist somewhere in the rat's nest have kept me from completing much of anything.

Day before yesterday, I spent a bit more time excavating my primary FF goodie box.  Lo and behold, the DT parts bag jumped out thumbing its nose at me Smiley Smiley.  spent the better part of a HOT afternoon today (92°F, 60% humidity) fitting the mounts for the timer and guide tube in the fuselage.  Still have to cut the back end to allow the stab to pop.

I'll get this finished some day...

Looks good. I really like the job you did on that plywood cowl.  Smiley Did you make some kind of form to shape it?

I wasn't at all pleased with the cowl to fuselage fit - it was too large - so I re-did it.  I was able to re-use the ply section, trimming of 4mm (2"mm at each join surface).

I didn't use any form, just fingers and gel type CA.  A "scab" glued at the join provides the surface area for a positive join.  One must remember to lightly sand ALL areas to be glued on plywood to remove the parting compound used in the Ply laminating process - otherwise unwanted surprises can (usually WILL Roll Eyes) happen regardless of glue type... don't ask Wink.

Here's some more, Thyme!

Slowly but surely getting there.  Gotta make some wheels now and still a lot of sanding.  The sheeting at the rear is to strengthen the area for the D/T cutout wedge that will be covered/disguised with a shroud - I'm stealing Mike's method Grin.  That strange object laying at the front is the cowl - 0.4mm plywood. Haven't decided whether to mount it permanently or use screws.  A 9.5 or 10 inch prop (Peck or the newer Chinese silver) will be the prop of choice for starters - to get this puppy in the air as quickly as possible.

Weight as shown is 47.5 gramms.  So far, I seem to be fairly close to what Mike's model weighed at this stage

30 gramms as she sits.  Still needs wing and stab center sheeting plus shaping, wire L/G and wheels and D/T setup.  I hope to keep it at less than 100 gramms minus rubber.  The wing area is 172˛in so at 100 grams + ~25 gramms of rubber it should still be a floater.

Model is completely framed up (90% done, 90% still to do Roll Eyes).  I wanted to take some piccies, but the landing gear legs haven't been bent yet and my model stand is buried somewhere in my "office".

Started the planking and shaping (LOTS of sanding Tongue).  There are now THREE Zippers in the HPA cookup - mine, Mikes (ZK-AUD) and Mark Braunlich (already painted!  He was kinda sneaky about his build Wink)

That's why it's hard for us modelers to throw away anything.  Never know what you might use it for.  I salute your creativity!!! Smiley

The fixture cross-members are spot-glued to the keels, so I'll just flip the thing to do the other side.  I glued in three stringers to the opposite side while still pinned to the workboard for a bit of support and will alternate two stringer per side.

I cobbled the jig together out of bis left over from building a case, the base is a chunk of an old shelf (particle board), and a bunch of brads.
