I'm definitely interested. I will probably make the wing removable, with wire pins in tubes, and probably also make an 'improved' wing  with a curved inboard section. I intend to build it with the birdcage canopy as on the Comet plan and perhaps with the clipped wing tips of the Fleet Air Arm version. I may well leave the extant fuselage unchanged and wait for flight tests to see if I need to build a lighter fuselage with better wood and more air. I'm about to build a new wing for a KeilKraft Me109 F and after that will start on the Corsair wing. I seem to have lost my Me109 but have an own design fuselage that will fit the KK wing.

RJ, take a look at this video re: vacuform: It was what gave me hope to make my own canopies.

I'm still in the game. Trying to decide which plan to use. Currently, I'm looking at Frank Scott's 22" Corsair and Mark Drela's 13" peanut which I would enlarge to somewhere around 20-21".

I'm not concerned about making the wing. Mostly concerned about making the canopy as I have not made one before.

I may be slow getting going on this build as I am currently on another build, and I have generally been a slow builder.

Regards.

Maybe the wing is the deterrent on this cookup. So! if no one else joins in, then maybe shelve this cookup till a later time.

Grin  fuselage construction is straight forward.  i like half shell method.  the real bad one is fixing the proper wing dihedral.  you need to predetermine how the root wing rib slants  i lay out the former where the main spar attaches then by measuring out the length of the inner and outer panels and the heights required, i draft out the shape of the spar and set the panels accordingly. remember the rib where the wing panels join is vertical!

When I finish the P-40 and FAC Kaydet builds I will have the space to build an F4U Corsair from a Comet plan for this cookup.

Snaky Stringer, you could give me some insights on the construction.

I have a Comet Corsair fuselage built from the kit wood and with tiny holes in the formers. It's been unfinished for at least twenty years and probably nearer thirty. I was considering a more accurate wing and opening up the formers to allow rubber clearance but perhaps a wing and fuselage straight from the plan would be more authentic. I doubt if the wing according to plan would survive the first landing, though, which in itself would be quite authentic.

I will report back, perhaps even with pictures.

I have a Czech plan of an F4U somewhere I'd like to do, but with all the cookups starting I'm a bit reluctant starting another one.  I'll follow with great interest!

OK! RJ, if spud can gather enough interest we could have a go at an F4U cookup.

Scigs30, is that the F4U on the Building in progress section?

I've been wanting to build a Corsair, and maybe could be talked into joining a Corsair cook up.
