That photo is worth the entire build!
I used to slope up Makakilo on Oahu. Been away for 3 years now.. Your slope spot and flying pics made me realize it's been too long. Awsome Build!!!

thanks much..it's been windy lately but the evenings look promising for a small upstart when the winds calm down usually.
the terrain is'nt really all that bad..although it gets slippery and muddy..makes for a nice hike sometimes..when it gets super light, I go down the slope about 50 feet and I can slope closer to hill for some ground effect flying
will post link to video soon as I got some.. Smiley

Good job, flyer!  Your slope site is beautiful, but looks quite rugged if you have to go down hill to retrieve.  Would love to see more video, especially if the wind improves. Smiley

I began to look closely at a small unstart for light-flat field flying..I really like the vintage look in the sky..

Glad you've had so much success with this glider.  Well done.  I look forward to videos of your longer flights.

I've actually been waiting for the winds to lighten up so I can do some thermal flyin..I made two small test hops..in windy conditions..ended up busting the wingstruts..again an easy fix..when I get a chance to thermal I'll shoot a longer vid..I only got like 30 sec cause i landed due to turbulence..next weekend most likely.. after the test hops I've decided to add washout in the wings..too flat a glide..I'd like to make it float more.I think the washout will do it..lands nice on the skid and wheel..

Thanks Everyone for lookin..any questions, please ask..
I'll be doing more of these vintage sailplanes in this scale..
The Prefect is small but sooo Pretty..Thinking of building another..Probaly lighter and added features after building this one.

Thanks Much everyone..always glad to share ideas.. The vintage sailplanes always appealed to me alot as well..

I could've used smaller servos ,but could'nt wait for it to get here.lol.
I think in a place with lighter winds and a small bungee, the Slingsby could thermal nicely. sometimes alittle mass on a small bird helps to penetrate turbulent air..Testament to the design itself.
make sure that you got plenty throw on rudder as the wing span increased to 40" needs alittle more push.
it corrects expectedly with 1.75 dihedral each side and wants to flatten into glide. even with the bronco ride maiden..lol..I could see the flight potential with focus on controlling the aircraft and response..very positive.
for a design such as this one..
I have considered building the vintage type sailplanes in this size before but only got to it now..
I'll be revisiting some plans stashed of the vintage stuff I like alot..
The gullwing birds might be problematic as it would need to fly slightly faster..maybe..and need more area...Gosh then again..why not anyways..
one pic of servo bay..simple.basic..battery in front..rx in back..all close together..
the minute I have video..will share Smiley

Good looking bird!

The early gliders have a definite appeal, at least to me. Like Bob said, would like to see her in the air.

Nice work!

got to test-fly for trimming.after some adjustments...the wind got stronger..dang it .I still walked across the street to fly..LOL.surprisingly I was able to maintain control and not get into to much trouble..once or twice it tried to get away from me but I have maxium throw on the rudder.. Grin....
the elev I turned down the throw.
even with the windyness "gusting to 15" and the bouncing all over the sky..the plane is in basicly one piece..the only problem really is the wing braces snap if bumped too hard..but then again I did go on a windy day..I just had to fly. Grin Cheesy
simple fix, just some ca and back on.has to have it for flight.
the next few pics are after trimming flights..looks the same after maiden.
the c.g. is at the spar for the moment.adding small amount of lead brings weight to 3.75oz..
there is'nt any washout,for the moment..testing still.
seems durable enough..long wing though..can't wait for a thermal day..this thing will float around..
