Thanks guys.  I feel quite honored and blessed to be called on to help a young person learn to fly.  I try to keep a couple of expendable planes in the fleet for just this reason.  I can always glue a plane back together, and the reward of a successful flight is priceless to me.  Hope I can keep doing it for a long time.

That's a hoot, John!  Brings back lots of fun memories.  The boy's learning the ropes (lines) of CL flying...cultivating the touch...avoid the urge to over-control.  Grin  Man that looks like fun! Smiley

John,
Outstanding...glad to see the younger generation showing interest in this form of aviation.  Thanks for your willingness to pass along your skills!!!

A friend in our local club asked if I had a trainer plane that his grandson, Dylan, could try to fly control line.  I was happy to get to help the young man get into the air.  He wasn't as successful as he wanted to be, but no one is born knowing how to fly these planes.  At least he tried, and is wanting to try again. He paid attention to what I told him about how it is done, and seemed to understand what he needed to do.  I'm sure he'll get it just fine.  Dylan is a Boy Scout, and is interested in learning all that he can about model aviation.  To top it off, he can earn a badge from scouting about it.  After meeting and talking to him, I'm confident that he'll do quite well.

Also, kudos to granddad, JB Sims, for bringing Dylan out to the field.  The more young people that come out, the better I like it!  We all need their interest if our hobby is to thrive.
